One of my favorite things to do is listen to music. Over the years, I have spent many hours commuting to college where all I could do was listen to the radio. Throughout the year, I spend long hours driving tractors at the farm where I listen to music to help pass the time. I also watched American Idol from about 2008 to its final season this past spring. As a result, music has become an obsession of mine. I listen to most genres of music, but I do have my favorites.
From listening to the radio and other music outlets, I have come across many great artists that are not known to the general public. However, these artist's voices and talents are phenomenal (in my opinion, that is). Try listening to them...I promise they won't disappoint.
1. Needtobreathe
They are an alternative group with a very unique sound that has not changed since the first time I heard them several years back. You can't help but smile when you listen to any of their music.
2. Ben Rector
You may have heard his song "Brand New," a recent hit of his. However, he has so many more great songs out there. What he can do with his voice is just amazing. He is a true storyteller through his songs.
3. Aloe Blacc
This man has not released a large amount of music, but the songs that he has done are wonderful. He has sort of an older sound, which I love.
4. Haley Reinhart
Haley was a contestant on American Idol Season 10 where she went all the way to number 3. Her voice is a true gift that she continues to use as a part of "Post-Modern Jukebox."
5. B. Reith
B. Reith is a singer/rapper. His songs are astounding, and his voice is simply amazing. He is not widely known, but he definitely should be. He is releasing new music in the near future so be sure to check it out. By the way, this song "Old School" is probably the snarkiest song I know.
6. Danny Gokey
Danny was also a contestant on American Idol Season 8, where he went to number 3. He proved he had an amazing voice on the show. He continues to amaze his fans, old and new.
7. Francesca Batistelli
I first heard Francesca at a concert back in 2010. Her ability to sing seems effortless. Hear for yourself.
8. TodyMac
While his voice is not the greatest ever, he is able to write and sing music that touches every listener and unifies so many different people. By the way, his concerts are THE BEST THING EVER.
9. Crowder
When I first heard him, I could not stand his voice but I grew to love it and consequently anything that he releases.
10. Chris Stapleton
He does not receive a lot of air time on country radio stations; however, his talent is undeniable. He sounds like an old style of country and still manages to stay current, as well.
11. MercyMe
There is not a song by them that I have not grown to love or appreciate.
12. Gavin Degraw
I think his voice speaks for itself. So so so good.
13. for King and Country
Last but not least, "for King and Country." Their voices are beyond compare. You can't help but smile when you listen to their songs.
