A lot of things can come into our lives that test our stability: running late for work, spilling our coffee on our favorite shirt, getting sick, getting your heart broke, a stressful day at work or seven stubbing your toe. A bad day can put a damper on our spirit. The stress of our daily lives can cause us to lose sight of who has our life in control: The almighty God. The God who knows every hair on your head and every desire of our hearts. Here are some verses you and I can keep in mind when life hits you with another curve ball.

1. 1 John 4:4

"You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world."

2. 1 John 5:14

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us."

3. Ephesians 2:8-9

"For we are God's handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

4. Philippians 1:29

"Whatever happens, conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ."

5. Philippians 4:4-7

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds."

6. Philippians 4:8-9

"Whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable - if anything is excellent or praiseworthy - think about such things . . . put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you."

7. Philippians 4:11

". . . I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances."

8. Philippians 4:13

"I can do all things through Him who gives me strength."

9. Jeremiah 29:11-13

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart."

10. John 14:27

"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

11. 1 Peter 5:7

"Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you."

12. Psalm 46:1-3

"God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging."

13. Isaiah 41:10

"So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand."

Some of these verses have helped me get through some of my worst days. Keeping your mind in check is half the battle. I know it is for me. So next time you find yourself struggling, remember that the Big Man Upstairs is on our side. He's our greatest advocate. Stick to His truth and He will give you way out. Always.
