As the stress from finals is settling down, the time for Christmas cheer with friends and family is breaking out in full swing. From one holiday lover to the next, it's easy to work yourself into the seasonal groove. But if you're unsure of where and how to start, take a look at these ideas.
1) Participate in ABC Family's 25 Days of Christmas. Even though we're well into December, it's never too late to fetch the remote and snuggle up with a steaming mug of hot chocolate.
2) The true meaning of Christmas. Take an extra few minutes to stop by the Salvation Army bucket, and drop in a few coins. Or better yet, donate canned products to your local food bank. A little can go a long way for someone in need.
3) Invest in a tacky sweater. You may find yourself coming across more than one Christmas sweater party in your lifetime.
4) Take advantage of seasonal drinks and holiday specials. Let's face it -- coffee is great, and the holidays are even greater. Put the two together, and you've got yourself a match made in heaven.
5) Say yes to adventures and giving back. Instead of asking for material objects on your wish list, ask to take trips instead. Travel. Make your own special adventures with the ones you love. If traveling isn't your forte, spend that money towards those in need. It might just make your christmas worth celebrating.
6) Jingle Bell Rock. Whatever you own, decorate it with tinsel and jingle bells. There shouldn't be a single bare railing or doorstep in sight.
7) Keep the Christmas radio station live and bumpin' at all times. Whether you're driving, cooking, lounging, or in the shower... those holiday tunes better be streaming.
8) Make it a snow day. If you're family is fortunate enough to celebrate a white christmas, do not take it for granted. They don't come around too often, so break out your puffiest snow gear and tear up that fresh blanket of snow while you can.
9) Embrace the seasonal scents. They a smell can trigger a memory. Make your Christmas memorable by lighting some holiday scented candles, or purchasing well-deserved seasonal soaps and lotions.
10) Out and about. Never pass up an opportunity for some community holiday spirit. Attend the annual christmas tree lightings and parades, or simply stroll around downtown. Take in the abundance of twinkling lights and garland.
11) Quality kitchen time. Stock up on the basic baking ingredients. You never know when you'll have your two hands free for some cookie baking, and a little extra time to kill.
12) A job well done. Once completed, take a step back and appreciate all of the new memories made, and the people you've shared them with.
Have a safe and wonderful holiday season!
