Have you ever felt like you need to make a change or that your life isn't exactly what you thought it would be? One of the hardest things you will ever do is to recognize when you need to make positive changes in your life. You might be looking for a new way to motivate yourself, or you could be looking for inspiration to make that big change. There a plenty of ways to improve your happiness and your life. Here is a list of simple things that will help.
1. Touch someone's life.
This can be as simple as telling a family member or friend how much you appreciate them. It can also mean noticing that a stranger is sad and throwing them a smile. When you make that extra effort to brighten someone else's day; you will also increase your own happiness.
2. Surround yourself with positive people.
This might be the hardest advice on the list! When trying to recognize if someone is a positive or negative light in your life, you might be hesitant to let them go. But it's important to surround yourself with people who support and respect you. Feeling love and support from others is a huge motivator!
3. Give yourself credit.
Are you the type of person who thinks that whatever you do is not good enough? If so, you just might be wrong. You only have one life to live and you need to do what makes you happy. Your best may not be someone else's best, and that is okay.
4. Express gratitude.
When someone does something nice for you don't forget to thank them. The little things in life are just as important as the big things. Appreciating others will also make them appreciate you.
5. Exercise your body.
A huge part of improving your mental and physical health is exercising your body. Working different muscles and relieving stress might be exactly what you need after a long day at work or school.
6. Exercise your mind.
Continuous learning keeps your mind sharp and allows you to grow. When you get home take some time to relax and watch your favorite TV show; but also try spending 15 to 20 minutes every hour or so stimulating your brain by playing mind-boggling games or anything that will expand your thinking.
7. Try something new.
Trying new things is important and can inspire you in a lot of different ways. Most people stick to their daily routine but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't step out of your comfort zone! Whether you pick up a new hobby, make new friends or find a new passion in life, you should just go for it!
8. Accept help.
While you're busy incorporating all of these great ideas into your life, you may feel like you've over committed or a little overwhelmed. Remember, it's okay to accept help and you shouldn't feel ashamed for needing others to help you through adjustments in your life.
9. Have a system.
Everyone knows that life keeps going and doesn't wait for us to catch up! In order to be there for friends and family, participate in hobbies but also make time for yourself to maintain life balance. Whether it's keeping an agenda, making to-do-lists or using an app on your Iphone, you can help yourself by simply organizing your life.
10. Rest and relaxation.
In our crazy and constantly moving lives it is important to know when to say no. You do not have to go to every function, sporting event or party; take some down time to focus on what you want and need at the moment.
11. Take responsibility.
While implementing change you are going to make a few mistakes along the way. Always own it! Take responsibility for what goes wrong but move on and learn from your mistakes. We grow and learn by taking responsibility for our actions.
12. Always be yourself.
I saved the best for last, and this is the most important thing to remember --no matter what you do or who you're with, always be yourself! Those who don't appreciate you for being you don't belong in your life and aren't worth your time. Words to live by: if you never let go of the wrong people then you won't find the right ones!
Making positive changes in your life is hard to do and you should be commended for even thinking about it. I'm hoping these tips will help you attain work life balance; which is they key to survival! Find motivation and inspiration in all you do!
