High school has come and gone, now it’s the summer before you start college, and you might be feeling a little nervous about the next big step. Well, I’m here to assure you everything’s gonna be alright. Yes, although it is true not everyone transitions into college the same way, I can guarantee there are benefits from college everyone appreciates.
1. Freedom/No curfew
You're in charge of you. So let your freedom flag fly!
2. New beginnings & new friends
Yeah, you'll make new friends, if you can remember how to make them after 4-6 years of knowing the same people...
3. No dress code
If your high school had a dress code, like mine, don't fret, now you can wear whatever the heck you want.
4. No homework
Okay, this varies from class to class, but you probably won't have the same massive homework load that you had in high school. But you will have to read... a lot.
5. Free stuff
College discounts and all the free stuff is beautiful.
6. Skipping classes is ok
Rough night last night? Were you studying for your 10 am until 3 am and you want to skip your 8 am to catch up on your zzz's? Go for it.
7. Work hard, play harder
Tipsy Tuesdays, Wednesjays (GO JAYS!), Thirsty Thursdays? You can do them all!
8. Sporting events are an even bigger deal
Now your school sports teams are recognized on a national level, AND you get free admission? Count me in.
9. You can finally take classes you're interested in
Whether that be bowling, astronomy, or organic chemistry, the college is your oyster.
10. You discover your true self
You finally have the time and environment to figure out yourself and what you want to do with your life.
11. Naps
Nap in the library? Outside on a hammock? In the dining hall? On the floor of your dorm hall? In lecture? No judgment at all.
12. Buffets for every meal
Regardless if your dining hall food is good or not, take advantage of your endless meals. (Aka bring Tupperware and stock up for the week)
College truly is all the hype people make it out to be, so keep an open mind and it'll be some of the best 4 years of your life! Make 'em count. Oh, and leave high school in the past.
