"You're going to end up being an old lady with way too many cats" - everyone who meets me.
Okay first of all, that's not going to happen because I feel bad if I can't give my cats their individual attention. Second, cleaning the cat boxes for my two cats is bad enough.
I have always been a cat person. Do I love dogs too? Depending on the dog, yes. I dream of the day I am able to get a dog, but until I have a yard that they can run around in I'm not going to be the owner that keeps them locked up all day. Cats are easy.
The following are my reasons as to why I'm okay with being a crazy cat lady, as presented with enticement of my cats Eezma and Kuzco in order to help you see my side.
1. They use these awesome things called litter boxes
There are some days I'm gone from morning to night. I don't have time to stop in at home to let my animals out. If I wanna stay the night at a friend's house, I can. Cats go to the bathroom when they want, without your help. Now I'm not going to say the occasional mishap doesn't happen where they pee on your roommate's things out of spite (sorry Katie), but for the most part they are pretty well trained.
2. They don't need attention 24/7
Some people say they prefer dogs because they always show their owners how much they love them. Cats do this too, just in a different way. See, dogs give their love easily and are very obvious about it. As soon as you come home they're all up in your grill with hugs and kisses. Cats just enjoy a little innocent game of hard-to-get. They have their moments of rubbing all over your legs, sleeping on your lap, bringing their toys to you when they want to play (I'm not sure if all cats do this, but mine do), etc. It doesn't mean they love you any less when they don't acknowledge your existence, it just means they don't want you to take for granted when they do decide to show affection. When a dog shows me love I feel happy. When a cat shows me love I feel honored.
3. Two words: Laser Pointer
If you have never played with a cat using a laser pointer, you cannot rightfully say you don't like them. It is sad how long I can be entertained watching my cat run in circles chasing a red dot that he will ultimately never catch. The first time I showed Kuzco the laser pointer he chased it for a good 30 minutes. Slamming into doors, running up and down the couch, staring at the ceiling--only for it to end with his tongue hanging out while panting and obsessively looking around the room for where it disappeared to.
4. They shed, but not terribly
This is another factor I take into consideration when deciding on why not to get a dog right now. Hair drives me crazy. My cats shed just like any animal with fur does, but in no way does it get to the point where I am having to pick up fur balls off the floor. My roommate has a Shiba Inu and I swear all you have to do is look at that dog and a pound of fur falls off. She's adorable, but sweet Jesus how can such a small animal lose so much hair and not be bald?
5.They have their own personalities

I've always said that those who don't like cats just haven't experienced the right cat. I myself have even owned a cat that I now refer to as the devil cat. Needless to say I found a new home for that one very quickly. Out of all the cats my family and friends have ever owned, I have never once come across two cats that act exactly the same. Eezma and Kuzco are two complete opposites. I have never known a cat to be as needy as Kuzco is. He acts like a dog in the sense that he greets you at the door, follows you around and has to be all over you anytime, anywhere.
Eezma is a dainty little thing that's shy and sensitive but knows how to sweetly get your attention when she wants it.
Cats are like kids, you never know what you're going to get.
6. Cat memes
They are hilarious.
7. Cat attire

I cannot tell you how many items of cat clothing and accessories that I have. The best part about it is that I have barely bought any of it for myself. Being a cat lady makes me incredibly easy to shop for. One Christmas I received cat related presents from four different people, and they were all fantastic.
8.Cat walks

I know this may not be relative to a lot of you cat owners out there, but if you have never tried walking your cat, please do. Not only is it incredibly entertaining but you get fantastic reactions from drivers that pass you with the look of "is that girl walking a cat?". Eezma likes to be taken on walks every single day. She will sit by the door and stare at me until I give in.
9. They are much cheaper than dogs
You can get cats for free. Let's be real, sometimes it's hard enough to have the money to take care of ourselves. Basically everything cat related is cheaper than anything dog related. If you're wanting a low maintenance pet that will actually interact with you and won't break your bank account, cats are the way to go.
10. It's impossible to stay mad at them
Cats are good at "forgetting" what they've done. If they do something bad it's almost impossible to punish them for it if not caught right away. That and they're going to pretend they did nothing wrong while cutely rubbing on your legs to make you forget all about it.
11. They make you smarter
Research has been done that claims cats help to make a person more intelligent compared to dogs. You see, with cats being so low maintenance you are able to spend more time at the library studying without having to worry. As apposed to the interruptions throughout the day of having to go home and let your dog out.
