12 Emotions We All Get From Watching The Olympics

Every two years, there is an Olympiad. Whether it's the Summer or Winter Olympic Games it doesn't matter, there is an Olympic Games to watch on TV every two years and I love it. Watching these Olympiads is one of my favorite things when they're on, from the opening ceremony when all of Team USA is walking out in their spiffy outfits behind our beautiful red, white, and blue flag to the podiums when our amazing athletes receive medals after killin' it out there and accomplishing their dreams to become Olympic Champions. It's incredible to watch these athletes compete in the Olympic Games, from the qualifying rounds to the actual heats that will determine who gets the medals on those podiums and who doesn't.

From the beginning to the end, there are many emotions that come from watching the Games, emotions all are familiar with whether you cheer for Team USA or not.

1.) When you see your team's name show up on the bottom of the screen during the Parade of Nations.

Oh my God, we're almost up. This is so exciting!!

2.) Your team FINALLY walks out for the Parade of nations

That's us! Look at them that's us! You can't help but beam with pride at the sight of them, these athletes are representing your country and have proven to be the best of the best.

3.) You're watching one of your favorite athletes compete in their event, and they are SO CLOSE to winning!

Oh for the love of God my blood pressure can't take this GO GO GO!!!

4.) When they lose

Oh, the pain is so real right now.

5.) ...but when they WIN

YES YOU GO WE KNEW YOU COULD DO IT SLAAAAYYYY

6.) Watching the gymnasts do some flips, a couple twists, compose a symphony with a quill pen, file their taxes and then stick the landing.

Casually defying gravity, no big deal.

7.) ...and then the announcers go "OH NO! What a huge mistake!" and everyone without a strong gymnastics background is like

It looked flawless to me but I guess that's why it's not my job!

9.) When people suddenly become experts in every sport they're watching.

Mhmm, yes tell me more about how you do that on a regular basis. Oh, wait, sorry, did you say you can't? Yeah, thought so.

10.) Watching athletes kill it and perform better than ever.

Truly inspirational.

11.) Watching the athletes' reactions to finding out they've won.

Seeing them so happy makes me happy, there's no rawer reaction than this one!

12.) When you actually start to think about the ages of these athletes and how they're at the Olympics while you're watching them compete from your couch and you slowly begin to wonder what you've done with your own life...

Suddenly, everyone feels very, very old.

The Olympics are a time to celebrate the powerful athletes of each nation compete against each other. There's some unsportsmanlike conduct at times, but from many reports I've heard of the athletes being in awe from seeing people from all over practicing and working out together in the same gym. In the opening ceremony, Rio wanted to show how a theme for this Olympiad was international togetherness. I've seen the gymnasts give hugs to each other regardless of their team or nation and I think that's what the Olympics are really all about: doing what you love to do with other people across the world who love to do it too.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
