You hear it far too often lately from people of the class of 2018: "I don't want to do work anymore," "I can't focus on anything," "I don't really feel like going out anymore these days." Especially with the warm weather of spring coming, we all have to change our attitudes to be more positive to get through the rest of the semester! Here are a few quick tips to combat your sophomore slump:
1. Prioritize your time
Time management is one of the best ways to get all of your assignments complete and still have time to do fun things! Especially with the spring weather approaching, you don't want to be missing out on a darty because you didn't get that assignment done.
2. Spend more time outside
One of the best times at Fairfield is when the weather is nice, so take advantage and get some of your work done outside.
3. Make time for adventures with friends
Never say no to a new adventure! Being adventurous and getting off campus is one of the best ways to get out of a slump.
4. Keep eating a healthy diet
You will need energy to get through the rest of the semester so make sure you keep it healthy.
5. But also treat yourself every now and then
Everyone needs those treats every once and a while. Be kind to yourself.
6. Focus on getting assignments done in small chunks, rather than doing it all at once
This will prevent you from being overwhelmed at the last minute and will help you to stay on top of your game.
7. Make sure to stay organized
Keep an organized planner and desk to help you feel more prepared to take on tasks.
8. Try to make time for the gym
This will help you to feel better physically and help you to focus on your work.
9. Or even exercise outside
There are plenty of fun walking trails around campus to discover.
10. Try to remember all of the exciting things ahead
We are almost upperclassmen, some of us are studying abroad, and it is almost summer. There is so much to look forward to.
11. Remember that college doesn't last forever
So enjoy every minute, take advantage of every opportunity and get out of that slump!
