Have finals kinda ruined your holiday spirit? Because I totally feel that. It's hard to be excited about the holidays when they seem so far away and the weeks leading up to it feel like you are living in actual hell. But fear no more! I'm here to help and share with you some simple ways you can get in the holiday spirit without wasting to much time of your studies!

1. Order a Holiday drink at Starbucks before you start studying.

Nothing screams Christmas like a good ol' peppermint mocha or hot chocolate.

2. Wear fun Christmas socks.

I don't know about anyone else but Christmas socks are my favorite! Stop by Target and pick up a few new pairs to make your mornings a little brighter when you put them on!

3. Decorate your room.

It can be as simple as hanging a stocking on the wall or put a small tree on your desk. A little holiday decor goes a long way when you are coming back to your room after a long day of classes and studying.

4. Make (or buy) some holiday cookies.

If you have access to an oven and some baking supplies make cookies for a study break! However, if you don't like me and don't have an oven, going to the store and picking up some holiday Oreos or other assorted holiday cookies works too!

5. Listen to Christmas Music while you are studying.

If you aren't doing anything where you need to be intensity focused, putting on a little Christmas music in the background can be a great way to get in spirit and make your homework more enjoyable too!

6. Take a walk or drive to look at Christmas lights.

If you are like me and your campus is in a neighborhood, taking a quick walk around to see the lights can be a super relaxing and great little study break! If you want to drive because it's cold out, that works too!

7. Shop for Christmas presents.

Have a couple minutes before class? Stop in the bookstore and buy some cute gifts for your family!

8. Make paper snowflakes.

You know those paper snowflakes you used to make in elementary school? Make them again now and hang them all over your walls or from the ceiling! SO FUN.

9. Watch your favorite holiday episodes on Netflix.

Don't have time for a full movie? Go to your favorite TV series on Netflix and watch all the holiday episodes from each season.

10. Wear your Christmas sweaters loud and proud!

Walk into your 8 AM in your favorite holiday sweater, it'll make you and your classmates a little less dreary that morning.

11. Have a countdown till you get to go home or until Christmas.

I don't know what it is but I always feel like having countdowns helps the days go by quicker!

Good luck on your studies and hope these tips help these last couple weeks be a little more enjoyable!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
