Admit it, the stress of finals week is already setting in. Before you let the stress take over, try and relax and prioritize. While this is a stressful time, try and remember that everyone is or has gone through the same thing. Skipping meals, sleep deprivation and anxiety over exams are enough to stress anyone out. Here are some things to try and help you cope with all the stress that always invades our lives as every term comes to an end.
1. Make a list of responsibilities.
Everything might seem overwhelming when you’re storing a to do list in your head. Write it all down with times that you can accomplish the tasks. It makes it easier because you can visually see what needs to be done.
2. Treat yo self.
Buy that expensive coffee or Ben and Jerry’s. You deserve it considering all you’re going through.
3. Call your mom.
No one can boost your self-confidence like your mom. She’ll remind you that you are capable and that everything will be OK in the end.
4. Take a hot shower.
A hot shower loosens your muscles that are most likely tense from stress.
5. Watch a hilarious YouTube video.
In extremely stressful situations, it is important to remember to laugh.
6. Look at memes.
I have memes saved on my phone for this very purpose. Memes can turn a painful grimace into a smile!
7. Take a walk.
The fresh air and exercise will make you feel more at ease.
8. Listen to your favorite song.
Blast your favorite song and forget about all the stress you feel for at least three minutes.
9. Look to the future.
Try and remember that better (less stressful) times are ahead. After this is over you will have another term under your belt and spring break.
10. Drink water and remember to eat
Personally, finals week is the week I always fall ill. Now, I start guzzling water at the end of week eight to insure that I don’t get sick during finals. I also try and remember to eat even though finals week is so busy.
11. Breathe.
Try and remember to breathe. We are never given more than we can handle and you should remember that we are lucky to be able to receive a college education.
Good luck with finals, try not to stress too much!
