Moving 500 miles away from home opens your eyes to new cultures and lifestyles you never imagined. As intriguing and interesting as new places are to explore, your heart lingers in your stomping grounds. Being from Massachusetts not only allows you to think you are wicked cool and better than everyone else, it allows you to know it for eleven specific reasons you only realize when you move away from home.
1. We will forever be #BostonStrong.
... That skyline, though.
2. You will get sick of people asking if you can actually "Pahk Yah Cah in Havahd Yahd"?
Why, yes you can! Look at all of those prime parking spots!
3. You'll never understand the hype of Plymouth Rock.
You probably went on a field trip there in the fourth grade.
4. The Cape and the islands are what make summers to die for.
Did someone say party? On the beach? Darty? Summer? Sun? Friends? Happiness! Also, fun fact: According to National Geographic Nantucket Island was named the number one island in the world.
5. You don't buy scratch tickets at Cumberland Farms, you buy scratchies at Cumbies . You don't run on Dunkin Donuts, you run on Dunkies. You don't get alcohol from the liquor store, you get a run at the packie.
No, it is not just a saying..We do actually run on dunks, and yes, we drink ice coffee all year round, even when it is -10 degrees outside.
6. You wonder why St. Patties day isn't a national holiday.
The difference between the people who say, "Kiss me i'm Irish!" in Boston and everywhere else is there's a 99 percent chance the people in Boston are actually Irish.
7. Marathon Monday is more than a marathon, you sometimes wonder why it isn't a national holiday either.
Oh, you meant running ? I thought you meant drinking ...
8. Tom Brady will forever be our hero.
We all know he's innocent. Say what you want, we are right ... as always, #hatersareourmotivators.
9. Our sports teams are better than yours.
Look at the stats.
10. Friends from other states think you have a drinking problem, you swear you don't.
God forbid you love a Boston Lager every once in a while ...
11. At the end of the day, you would never want to call anywhere else home.
Born and raised Bostonian until the day we die.
