Morning time can be rough. Trust me, I know. I’ve spent most of my college career waking up at 6 a.m. or 7 a.m. to get ready for a morning class. During the summer the morning time still beckons my name, not only for work but also for that random hike I had to do so I can avoid the searing heat that engulfs the state around noon. I have found that if you just change your perspective on how you look at mornings you could change how you act the whole day. Once you change your perspective on just one of your days, it might just change your life. I don’t always do these things but I plan on it. I think it could not only turn my life around but also make me a happier person, and I just couldn’t resist something that could make me a happier person.

1. Drink a glass of lemon water every morning.

Drinking a glass of lemon water every morning can not only speed up your metabolism for the day, but it can also get you feeling great for the rest of the day!

2. Listen to one of your favorite songs every morning.

Why shouldn’t you jam out to your favorite song in the beginning of the day and dance around your room like no one is watching (because guess what NO ONE IS!)? Everyone should have a little bit of fun every morning.

3. Always use the bathroom before you leave the house.

Who wants to walk around with a full bladder? I know I don’t want to.

4. Lay out the clothes you are going to wear today the night before.

I know this is something for the night before and not the morning, but it will save you so much time! Who doesn’t like a little extra beauty sleep.

5. Eat breakfast!

Small breakfast, big breakfast -- who cares? Eating breakfast every day helps build your metabolism and make you happier on a full stomach!

6. Do a 10 minute workout.

The workout could be focused on the abs, a yoga workout, a quick stretch, or anything really. Getting a workout in every morning is essential; it gets you moving and sends endorphins through your body in a pretty quick way, and those endorphins make you happy in the words of Elle Woods.

7. Plan out your day.

If you know how you want your day to go you are more likely to plan around it and make sure you time manage well to make those things happen.

8. Reflect on how you want to act that day.

If you tell yourself that you want to be happy, chipper, and spread good vibes then you are more likely to do that. Plus you should always be striving to be happy and spread love to everyone.

9. Check your email (and voicemail).

You don’t want to get in trouble with a professor or miss anything that is important for either your work or your studies.

10. Don’t dabble on the distractions or the drama.

You shouldn’t ruin your day by distracting yourself with things that are pointless and especially not drama.

11. Take a second and just breathe.

Things might seem like they are not going well in your life or in the world, but it will all be fine. Just close your eyes and breathe, maybe even go to your happy place.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
