For anyone that knows a little bit about "Gossip Girl" or to anyone that has binged watched "Gossip Girl," it may seem like that the "Upper East Side" life is something that no one can relate to. I just finished binge watching the series (yes, I do feel empty and alone now), but while watching I did notice some ways the show can be relatable for us non- Constance or St. Jude bred students! Enjoy!

Hello all Upper East Siders, here are 11 things we learned from Gossip Girl!

(Warning: Spoilers)

1. Friendships are everything

The one thing I noticed in every episode while watching "Gossip Girl" is how important friendship is. Regardless of how many times Blair and Serena tried to sabotage each other to Chuck screwing over Nate by sleeping with Blair, their friendships survived every curve ball that came their way.

2. Relationships are comlpicated

Whether you have/want a roller-coaster twisted love like Chuck and Blair or a cute puppy love like season one Serena and Dan, "Gossip Girl" taught us that every relationship will have its ups and downs. How you react to those adversities is what's important. Anyone who watched the show envied one relationship. All the relationship drama also taught us that fairy tales are only real in movies. You need to make your relationship work for you.

3. Gain independence

Blair Waldorf knew that she had to make a name for herself before she could be with Chuck. She was not interested in just being "Mrs. Bass." She wanted to be successful on her own. She had to put the love of her life on hold while she tried to figure out what she wanted to do with her life. We can learn so much here, never settle. You have to do what will make you happy, first.

4. Be yourself

Remember Dan and Serena's first "real" date where he tried to impress her at that fancy French restaurant. It was a complete flop. Once he brought her to his side of town and his favorite spots, things instantly turned around. They ended up having a great time and a great first date. Being yourself can be challenging when you want to impress others, but take a lesson from Dan (it pays off in the end).

5. Love will always find a way

I'd be lying if I said I never questioned Chuck and Blair ending up together. I mean I always knew they loved each other but for a while there I didn't think it was possible to take down Bart Bass and Blair had that huge issue with that fashion show. But thankfully they survived all of that. This relationship was totally my favorite of the show and I was so obsessed with them, they were the perfect judgmental couple. Can you blame me? I mean look at them. (Also did anyone else notice that Chuck's tie and pocket square always matched Blair's outfit?) It took a lot out for them to finally open up to each other, but once they did they never looked back.

6. Tights are not pants

Queen B was a style icon. I couldn't agree more with her when she said tights are not pants. I also interpret this as yoga pants not being pants either. Sorry not sorry.

7. Confidence is key

Every single person in "Gossip Girl" was so confident it bordered cocky (I'm looking at you, Chuck). Their confidence is something to be admired. They rarely doubted their abilities and when they did their friends were there to reassure them. I mean if Chuck ever needed to explain himself his response was "I'm Chuck Bass" if that confidence isn't to be admired, I don't know was is.

8. Some people will change, and that's OK.

Throughout the course of this series almost everyone changed in some way. Whether it was moving from Brooklyn to the Upper East Side or going from a Lonely Boy to dating Serena van der Woodsan, going from a party girl to a put together high schooler, going from an immature high school boy to a successful business owner. Everyone changes and there's nothing you can do but change with it.

9. Always dress to impress

This show wouldn't be the same without their superb fashion. This show taught me to dress my best all the time. You always want to make a good first impression. I mean you won't fully succeed on looks alone, you also need to be a decent human being, but it's important.

10. People will gossip

There will be people your whole life who will talk about you and gossip, you can't let this get you down and distracted from your goal in life. So, let them talk just do what makes you happy.

11. We all love a good breakfast

You can almost guarantee that Rufus was somewhere making breakfast in literally every episode. But hey, I didn't mind, every episode left me wanting waffles. I mean it felt like he became obsessed with them at one point mid-series because it was literally the only thing he did while wondering where Lily was. We understand, Rufus, we understand.

Here an extra picture of Chuck and Blair because they're just perfect

Until next time,

xoxo

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
