November is National Vegan Month! Yeah, go vegans! I'm all about people vibing with their own dietary restrictions - whether it be for religious, environmental, or moral reasons, it's your decision! Even if you just don't like red meat (like me), it's important to find a diet that you jive with.

However, I think we can safely say we've had that conversation with a vegan. You've maybe been approached by an activist on the street telling you why it's important to be a vegan. And in the spirit of honesty, I totally support the movement of knowing where your food comes from. It's important to have a good, wholistic food education. So many people, especially in America, have a diminished understanding of where their food comes from, how these animals are treated, and what is actually in their food.

Stars such as Zooey Deschanel are starting to get more involved with food activism, through her program 'The Farm Project', which teaches people how to reconnect with their food and informs them as to why that's so important.

There are many good, valid reasons for being a vegan - and good for you. But my philosophy on dietary restrictions is to each their own. Don't like animal products? Don't eat 'em! Here are a few things, however, that I've heard to convince me that Veganism is the way to go.

1. I'm a vegan.

I’m a Virgo.

2. I’m not one of those vegans.

Then you know what people think of 'those vegans'?

3. Have you seen 'Food Inc'?

I’ve seen Food Network, Ina Garten makes a killer Rosemary Chicken.

4. There are a lot of reasons why you should be vegan, but, I won’t preach about it

~I can feel it coming~

5. This is why you should be a vegan though.

Alrighty, see you in 25 minutes

6. Drinking milk is like drinking puss.

Uhhhhh.. Okay.

7. Dairy-free cheese is just as good as regular cheese.

Slander.

8. Vegan brownies are so much better than regular brownies.

If you say brownies don’t need at least a cup of butter, you’re lying to yourself and everyone around you.

9. It’s honestly pretty easy.

To be... a... Vegan?

10. I treat my body so well, being Vegan makes me feel so much better.

Treat your body well? Pretty sure you blacked out last Saturday, Karin.

11. I haven’t had a pimple since I started being a Vegan.

I haven’t had a pimple since I changed my cleanser!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
