Married? Single? Significant other? "Friend"? It doesn't matter. Anyone can have fun on Valentine's day. It doesn't have to be about a mushy, romantic, perfect date or a special proposal. I have gathered a list of things that you can go out and do alone or with someone else no matter if they are your "true" love or not. It could be a fun night out with your BFF, or just hanging out with loved ones. Just be with someone you care for!
1. Visit an animal shelter or a pet store.
Anytime pets are involved it's always a great time. Playing with puppies or animals at the animal shelter is both rewarding and it is known to relieve stress.
2. Make dinner with your friend, boyfriend/girlfriend, or spouse.
Nobody wants to go out to eat on Valentine's Day. It is so busy and crowded. Being at home will be a lot more intimate and fun. The other benefit of being at home is sweatpants!
3. Rent movies and stay home with your significant other or friend.
You can watch movies all night and eat popcorn and make cookies and just have a great time without the pressures of having to be quiet in a movie theater. You even get a way more comfortable couch to sit on versus the movie theater seats.
4. Have a "singles" only party.
Do you know a couple of friends who could use cheering up on Valentine's Day? Have a party and use each other to vent and do each others hair and nails. It will beat being alone.
5. Have some alone time.
Spend the day cleaning the house, catching up on homework and then get in your PJs and binge-watch netflix and eat Ben and Jerry's Ice cream until your sugar coma kicks in.
6. Find a Pinterest craft and do it
It can be a fun way to get things in your house or apartment decorated or organized! Pinterest is always a good time.
7. Plan your Spring Break vacation.
Take this day and use it to get more stoked for your awesome Spring Break plans with your pals!
8. Teach your dog a couple of new tricks.
It will be great bonding time with your four-legged baby and they will have new tricks you can show all of your friends and family. They will be so jealous of your smart dog.
9. Visit your Grandparent(s).
They would love to see you and visit you. Maybe watch a movie with them or make them lunch. You have no idea how much they will talk about what an amazing grandchild you are if you do this for them.
10. Get someone to come over and bake something fun that you both have never baked before.
It will be adventurous and hopefully fun to eat at the end. I recommend something chocolate!
11. Host an international food party.
Invite all your friends and tell them to pick a country and cuisine that comes from that country. It will be a fun way to learn more geography and to get some yummy foods you do not typically have all of the time.
These are just 11 simple ideas that I thought of. Get creative. Don't stay at home and be sad. Chances are, there are plenty of people who want to do something. Go find them and have a blast at home!
