It's time to hurry up and wait.
As an equestrian with friends who do a wide variety of different sports, I can assure you that horse shows are unlike any other sporting event.
Whether it's our crazy way of dressing or the variety of classes to enter that never fail to confuse spectators, horse shows are definitely unique among other sports.
Here are 11 things we've all probably thought while waiting to go into the show ring.
1. "That's the cutest pony I've ever seen!"
When you see a cute pony and either start reminiscing about your pony days or wishing you had pony days.
2. "Who came up with this whole riding horses idea?"
I mean, we're all thankful for whoever it was, but when did we decide to start making horses jump pretty fences with us on them?
3. "I definitely could've tacked up like 30 minutes later than I did."
But 30 minutes before you tacked up they said your class was starting in 20 so you were scrambling to be ready...
4. "Shoot... what was my course?"
Because you were too distracted by cute ponies and whoever invented horse showing to keep repeating your course to yourself.
5. "Oh, just kidding! I got this."
When you realize you've told yourself your course so many times it's basically stamped in your brain forever.
6. "What's the second course? Eh... actually I'll worry about that if I survive the first one."
Because memorizing two courses at the same time is a struggle.
7. "I can't wait to take this hairnet off."
When you made the horrible mistake of putting the knot right in the middle of your forehead.
8. "Oh great, what's my number?"
Normally this thought comes to you as you're entering the ring for your flat class.
9. "Goals for the day: stay on."
Especially if it is, or has been, raining.
10. "Alright! We got this!"
As you walk up to the in-gate and realize you need to be confident.
11. "OK, breathe.."
As you walk into the show ring and realize you will probably forget to breathe during this class.
Let's face it.
Despite all of the weird thoughts that go through our heads while we wait to go into the ring, horse shows are probably some of the most fun events around, and we wouldn't have it any other way.
