11 Things Only Sisters Understand

Growing up with a sister can be rough at times, but most of the time it's like having an endless sleepover with your best friend. It's nice knowing that you never have to go through life alone, and having someone there to enjoy the good times and embrace the bad times with you makes life a little more blissful. If you have sisters, I am sure you can relate to the following;

You are brutally honest about how they look.

“You should probably put on a different shirt and maybe wear a different color lipstick.” And you know they will be honest with you, too.

You know all of their “looks.”

The “wtf” look, the “that guy was cute” look, the “do not embarrass me” look, the “let’s leave” look, and my all time favorite… The "oh my gosh, did she really just say that?" look.

You cant go anywhere without someone asking if you're twins.

“Oh are you guys twins”?! No, actually were 6 years apart… by now we should just make signs to wear around our necks.

Face swap or nah?

They will “like” everything of yours on social media.

It’s like… their job. Whether it be a selfie or some inspirational quote you found on pinterest, you better freaking believe she will like it.

Need an outfit? No problem.

Those days when you feel like you have nothing to wear… Just step on into your sister’s closet. It will always feel like she has 10x cuter clothes than you do, and then you get to act like you're on an epsiode of "Who wore it better".

You will always have a plan B.

Not that my sister is ever a backup plan, and quite honestly I’d spend a night in watching netflix and eating junk food with her over any other plans anytime! BUT, if ever your plans fall through, she’s always up to do something fun!

She’s your dating guru.

She’s always trying to hook you up. With the waiter, with the cute guy on Facebook, or the guy from back home you’ve always thought was a hunk. She also reassures you that you can do way better than all of your ex’s, and constantly reminds you not to open those doors again. She makes you realize how you deserve to be treated.

You get to be each others maid of honors!

You’re probably happier than she is when she finally gets engaged, too. Going to 12 different bridal boutiques to find the perfect dress, Pinteresting all hours of the day, and crafting for months on end is what sisters are for. It makes you happy seeing her happy, and what more could you ask for?

You will always have someone to ugly cry to.

After a break up, a sad episode of Greys Anatomy, or when you're just feelin' a little dramatic. She will always be there to listen to you vent.

Your parents can’t keep your names straight.

It might happen so often that you find yourself questioning your identity…

You will always have a best friend!

Honestly, even if we weren’t sisters, I’d still wanna be your friend… you're just that cool.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
