Whether you watch The Super Bowl for the actual game, or maybe you're more interested in the half time show, I think we can all agree that The Super Bowl always has some pretty great commercials. Every year I watch in anticipation and this year did not disappoint. Here are some of the best commercials from the 50th year of The Super Bowl:
1. Doritos - Ultrasound gone wrong
So the whole concept of the commercial revolves around a woman getting an ultrasound, who is then annoyed that her husband is eating Doritos the whole time. They then realize that the baby responds to the Doritos, by moving and squirming around. After throwing the Dorito across the room, she ends of giving birth because the baby is trying to chase the Dorito chip. It's hysterical. I literally laughed out loud. Give this one a watch!
2. Doritos - Dogs take on the Supermarket
This one was just plain adorable. What's better than a group of dogs trying to sneak in a grocery store to get some Doritos? Nothing, absolutely nothing is better than undercover dogs.3. The Bud Light Dynamic Duo
When Amy Schumer and Seth Rogan team up to promote anything, you know it's going to be a big hit. Full of fun bits about Paul Rudd, emojis, and Independence Day quotes, they deliver an inspiring and hilarious promotion of Bud Light. Ending the commercial with: "America has seen the light, and it has a bud in front of it." So great.
4. The Jungle Book Trailer
Growing up, I'm sure most of you have watched or at least heard of The Jungle Book. Well following in the footsteps of Cinderella, this Disney movie is next in line to introduce a live-action version of the story. Not only was it great, but the trailer was in 3-D. Seriously, no joke.
5. Puppy Monkey Baby
This year Mountain Dew unveiled a very interesting commercial, featuring a creature that has the head of a puppy, the torso of a monkey (including the tail), and the legs of a baby. It definitely wasn't my favorite, in all honesty it kind of freaked me out, but it was too interesting not to include in the list. So whether you like it or not, you gotta admit that it's different and caught your attention.
6. Miss Universe jokes, Steve Harvey, and Verizon bashing
This T-Mobile commercial featured Steve Harvey making fun of a previous Verizon commercial that's been out for a while. Part of what makes this so great is that Steve Harvey references his huge Miss Universe mistake in a fun lighthearted way which is really awesome to see. He apologizes to T-Mobile customers for making a big mistake, then blames Verizon for the wrong information.
7. Hyundai shows us exactly where we all need to live
Two words: Ryan Reynolds. Nuff said. Seriously if "Ryanville" was an actual place, you best believe I'd move there.
8. Honda commercial featuring sheep and a classic rock song
It's not every day you get to see a flock of sheep collaborate on the famous Queen song, "Somebody to Love." Even the dog joined in on the jam session. I realize the main focus was supposed to be on the truck, but I just loved the sheep. I mean how can you not fall in love with the concept of singing sheep?
9. Budweiser - Helen Mirren gets sassy
It's not too rare to see commercials about drinking and driving. However, this commercial stands above the rest. Budweiser shows Helen Mirren who describes herself as a "notoriously frank and uncensored British lady." Which she proves by describing people who drink and drive. I highly suggest you watch this.
10. Queen B drops *major* news
Beyonce is back y'all. The queen announced during this commercial that she is going on a world tour and that tickets go on sale in literally a couple of days. Beyonce has a knack for dropping things last minute, and this is no different. After having a stellar half time performance with Coldplay and Bruno Mars, the unveiling of this tour proves just how cool she is.
11. Heinz "Wiener Stampede"
I don't think it gets any cuter than seeing Wiener dogs dressed up as hot dogs, running towards people dressed up as condiments. Did I mention they're frolicking through a field with their ears bouncing up and down? It's so great, I really have no words.
All in all, it was a great Super Bowl show full of excellent football, the best half-time show ever, and (obviously) some pretty great commercials. I hope your night was full of celebration and time spent from friends, loved ones, and most importantly, boneless wings. Congrats to the Broncos and happy Super Bowl everyone!
