The day has come. The day you never thought you would ever willingly bring upon yourself. The day you will give up the sweet, bubbly, syrupy drink that fills the empty spaces in your life. Everyone has been telling you to quit drinking this drink that supposedly stains your teeth, causes cancer and gives you withdrawal headaches (insert eye roll here).
But it's time that you do this for your health, right? There's other ways to find energy and happiness, right?
Here goes nothing.
1. You wake up, ready to make it through this day on your morning coffee alone.
You don't need aspartame, carbonation and caramel color to make you happy.
2. You are ready to fight off your first mid-afternoon withdrawal headache.
Time to turn down Diet Coke for the first time.
3. You are yawning a little more and you are trying to convince yourself that this headache can't possible be from skipping one Diet Coke.
4. You have to mentally and physically pull yourself together while driving.
It takes everything you have not to turn in to McDonald's and get a $1 Coke.
5. You are starting to sweat. All you can think about is the syrupy, fizzy goodness making your heart full again.
Whose idea was this?!
6. It is officially the worst day of your life.
You had a bad day, and you can't even fix it with a Diet Coke. Now what?!
7. Okay, but seriously, whose idea was this?!
You miss filling your veins with those artificial chemicals you can't pronounce. You miss the afternoon and evening caffeine boost. Diet Coke was your everything.
8. You ask yourself why you ever began this "journey."
Only you can describe the happiness Diet Coke brings you, so why did you let everyone convince you to give it up?
9. The urge is out of control at this point.
Nothing can stop you from getting to the nearest Diet Coke.
10. You cracked.
You're back in your happy place. Everything is right in the world as you taste that sweet Diet Coke that you took for granted up until today.
11. You have stopped caring that everyone nags you to quit drinking it.
So you couldn't even make it one day. Maybe everyone has something negative to say about those sweet, refreshing bubbles, but hey, pick your poison.
