Lots of people say college is the best four years of your life and I couldn't agree more. You're finally living on your own, getting to make your own decisions, meeting a whole lot of really cool people, and making friends that you can have a lot a fun with. But you shouldn't forget where you came from and who was there for you before you started this new adventure. Here are 11 signs your high school friends will still be your forever friends:

1. You always have something to talk about.

You love hearing about their new school, friends, and how much fun they're having at their new home. Although you may get jealous of their new friends, you love hearing all their gossip and are happy to know they're doing just fine.

2. You look forward to every FaceTime date.

The highlight of every week is when you find the time out of your oh-so-busy schedule to see your best friends face, meet their roommate, and reunite again.

3. You get great advice from them because they don't know who you're talking about.

You start to know who they're talking bout by name and get to give each other unbiased advice on new friends or boys you probably will never meet.

4. You get to plan fun weekends to go visit your friends at their new colleges.

Road trips or flights to see them are the best part about having friends across the country. You get to go to their parties, meet their friends, and be together for a few days.

5. You miss their family almost as much as you miss them.

Their families were your second family and you miss being welcomed into their homes. You're almost as excited to see their parents as you are them.

6. They know too much about you to ever not be friends.

You grew up with them and they know everything about you. They know your embarrassing childhood moments and went through your awkward stages with you.

7. When you are home during breaks at the same time, it's the best thing that has ever happened.

Reuniting with your friends from home after months of being away is the most exciting thing. You look forward to every break to spend a little time together.

8. You still share a love and pride for your hometown high school that no one at your new school really understands.

You graduated high school and love college, but you still have the school spirit of your hometown school that won't ever go away. If you're lucky, you'll even get to stop by at a Friday night football game on break together.

9. You get to hear funny, and sometimes embarrassing, stories in your group message after a long weekend out.

Your group chat blows up on a Sunday. You send each other funny pictures, videos, and stories from the nights before and laugh at each other's sometimes stupid decisions.

10. And maybe in four years, some of you will even end up living in the same city, or even same hometown you grew up in.

Here's to the parents and adults I know that still hangout with their high school friends.

11. You can't wait to see them again soon.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
