11 Reasons Why Your Dog Is Your Best Friend

"A dog is the only thing on earth that loves you more than he loves himself.” - Josh Billings

Anyone who has a dog knows that they have the ultimate best friend. Whether it's because they can't talk back to us (call us crazy) or stay mad at us, we're not quite sure. However, if you have a dog, then you know that you have a soulmate. You look into their eyes, they look into yours, and it's love. That's the type of best friendship that only you and that dog share.

1. Dogs always have your back.

When you and your dog have that special bond, they will defend you until the end. Whenever a stranger comes up to the door, your dog will be right there barking as loud as they can, making sure that the person at the door is worthy enough to talk to you. Then again, this can get out of hand when someone is trying to deliver something to your door and your dog scares them away.

2. Dogs usually mimic your emotions.

You have all had that time when you've been so excited about a particular thing that you've given off excited energy. Because you are excited, your dog is just as excited. They get excited for the sole reason that they see that you're excited. Based on different tones in your voice and body language, your dog tries to mimic the state that you are in. The same thing happens when you are sad. They look at you with their big puppy dog eyes, almost as if they understand you (because they do). When you're angry, they get angry, barking at random objects for no reason. Humans don't respond to other people's emotions like a dog does. Your dog will follow your vibe every step of the way. Your dog will always be there for you, no matter what mood you're in.

3. Dogs keep you on your feet.

They literally keep you on your feet. Dogs prefer being active over anything else. Make use of that energy and you'll be all set. Take them on a walk and they will love you forever. After that walk, they will finally want to lie down.

4. You never have to eat alone.

No one likes to eat alone every day and, with a dog, you have totally prevented that. If you have a dog, you have a dinner guest. With that, they will be as close to you as possible, panting, and begging for whatever you're havin'. And more than likely, your dog has you wrapped around their paw, and you will give up a few bites of your food to satisfy their needs.

5. Dogs will never abandon you.

We all know those times when a human has not come through with plans that were made. It blows. But, when you have a dog, you never have to worry about such a thing. They will never pick someone else over you (unless they have better food). Regardless, dogs are the most loyal companions. Even if you're sitting alone on the couch while watching your favorite movie, they are there for you!

6. Dogs live the right way.

Dogs have practically no worries, except for when you leave and they wonder when you're coming home. They don't have to worry about school, errands, frustrating people, looking good, etc. All that they want is a companion, a lot of naps, exercise, toys, food, and more sleep. Don't we all wish that our lives were that simple? It would be amazing if we could go through life like a dog, completely confident and not giving a shit.

7. Dogs remember.

Your dog will forget that one time that you stepped on their paw, but they won't forget the friendship that you have shared. The connection that you have with your dog is unlike any other. They love you unconditionally.

8. Dogs make you feel appreciated.

When you walk in the door, your dog immediately makes you feel like you are the only person on the planet. At that moment, you feel complete joy. When you give your dog a belly scratch, you are the only person who matters to them. When they want to cuddle, it's the best freaking cuddle that you have ever had. They never forget to say (well, not say, but show you) thank you.

9. Dogs are great listeners.

You can tell them your deepest darkest secrets and they will not tell a soul. Some may argue that dogs cannot understand us humans, but they definitely can. They would not provide that puppy dog look if they did not understand what you were saying/feeling. They may even offer your their paw to hold to get you through some tough times.

10. They will never judge you.

They do not care who you are or even what you are. They don't care what job you have. They don't care what kind of car you drive. They don't care who you know. They don't care what you wear. They don't care where you live. They don't care how you live. They just care that you are by their side.

11. They always feel remorseful.

They actually do. Have you ever yelled at your dog because they knocked something over or because they went to the bathroom on the floor? There is no doubt that they feel horrible. You can tell by the look in their eyes that they feel like crap. This is another way to prove how big their hearts are.

Dogs are awesome. Dogs do small things that put smiles on people's faces constantly. It's almost like they're a form of magic. With this being said, dogs are also a big responsibility, but they will absolutely steal your heart and you'll find yourself looking into their eyes and feeling better than ever. Truly, what did we humans do to deserve these beautiful creatures? Dogs really are mankind's best friend.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
