11 Reasons You've Loved Your Dog More Than People

Our world today has gotten so busy and crazy that we often forget how to communicate with actual people. We spend more time texting than we do having conversations in person, and we are so consumed with ourselves at times that it makes it difficult to keep a solid group of friends, especially when you're so busy with work, school, and life in general. This results in arguments, broken friendships, and heartbreak. Of course, these issues can be resolved, but I don't like dealing with those issues in the first place. And the best way to avoid these issues? Dogs. Just forget about people and get a dog.

Just kidding. Human interaction is important no matter how we do it. But seriously, we've all had those moments where we loved our dogs more than people. It's easy to do and here's why:

1. Dogs never talk back.
Who needs a boyfriend that is going to argue with you when you can just complain to your dog? The most your dog will do is bark at you, and that's not as bad as some of the heartbreaking things that are said in arguments about relationships.

2. They know when you're sad.

"I'm fine" is my favorite phrase in the world. Not talking? "I'm just tired. I'm fine." Refusing to smile? Put on a fake one. "I'm fine!" Crying your eyes out? "I'm fine; it's just allergies." Most people will just accept an answer and move on. Your dog knows you're lying, though, and will not be satisfied until you are feeling better...

3. They always want to cuddle.

Dogs don't need "space." They're just as lazy as you are and will cuddle with you pretty much whenever you request it. And if they don't, you just have to lock them in the room with you until they do. This is frowned upon if done with a human, so I wouldn't suggest that.

4. You're the greatest person in the world in their eyes.

Last time I checked, my friends didn't go crazy because they were so excited that I came home after being gone for 20 minutes. Enough said.

5. They've seen you at your worst and still don't judge you.

I almost feel bad for my dogs because of all of the ugly crying and quick outfit changes they've had to witness. They still think you're great, though.

6. Food and sleep are the two most important things in their lives (besides you).

I'm just saying, it's easier to get along with somebody that has the same interests as you. Even though most humans share these two important hobbies, nobody is as passionate about them as your dog.

7. They'll never stop being your best friend.

If you have a bad day and go off on them, if you promise them something and forget, or even if you step on them, your dog will forgive you. For humans, these situations can ruin your friendship forever.

8. You don't need to invest so much time in vacuuming.

If anyone is willing to come over and vacuum my house for me, go for it. Until then, I'll stick with my dog.

9. Their personality definitely reflects your own.

We've all had a dog that's sassy, hyper, or sneaky. What can we say? They learn from the best.

10. They will never stop protecting you.

When a cat walks across your yard, your dog is going to do everything in its power to make sure that cat comes nowhere near you. Mailman dropping off a package at the same time he does every other day? He's not coming anywhere close to you. Dogs worry more about their owners than themselves, a quality that most humans lack (though it is perfectly OK to take care of yourself first -- don't get me wrong).

11. They spend their entire life with you.

A dog may be in just a part of your life, but their time with you is their entire life. That's dedication.

What in the world did we do to deserve dogs?

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
