My girlfriends have always been a big part of my life. Through all my heartbreaks, tears, and bad relationships, they have been by my side through it all. Lately, I've been thinking that all I need in my life are my girlfriends and with each failed relationship, I'm beginning to see that it's more than true. My friends are my happiness in life and I can't imagine getting through life without them. Here are some reasons why having girlfriends are beyond better than having a boyfriend:
Road trips with your girlfriends trump any road trip with your boyfriend.
There is nothing more satisfying than jamming out, screaming at the top of your lungs, and wildly dancing with all your girlfriends in the car. Girls always make the best CDs for the road trips and you don’t have to be stuck listening to your boyfriend’s music that you know none of the words to.
You can swap clothes.
Your girlfriends not only have a closet full of clothes you can borrow but they will also give great advice on what looks good and what doesn’t. With a boyfriend, you can’t wear his clothes out and the common phrase of “it looks fine” doesn’t help you decided if you should wear the wedge or the pump with your outfit.
Cuddling with your friends never crosses the line.
With a boyfriend, they get tired of your cuddling antics and being the little spoon is nearly impossible. Girls are not only the best cuddle buddies, but nothing beats cuddling on the couch with your girlfriends in the morning after a rough night out.
You never have to feel bad about drunk texting your girlfriends.
It’s a terrible feeling waking up the next morning and realizing you texted your boo 20 times and called him at least 40. You never have to worry about that with your girlfriends. They never mind and you never have to feel guilty for the hundreds of drunk text they’re about to receive at 4am. It basically comes with the friendship.
Girlfriends are better to go out with.
When you go out with your boyfriend you have to watch what you say, who you talk to, and God forbid you get up on the bar to dance. Your girlfriends will be the one standing next to you on the bar! It’s never a bad night when you dance the night away with your best girlfriends.
Your girlfriends will always have the necessities.
They always have the things in their purses that you forgot about. Whether it’s chapstick, a tampon, a mirror, or concealer, your girlfriend more than likely has it stashed away in her purse.
They can relate.
It’s difficult trying to explain to your boyfriend why your emotions are haywire during that time of the month or why your hair seems to never do what you tell it to do. Your girlfriends can relate and can sympathize with you pain and the frustration of being a girl.
You can double text without feeling bad.
Your girlfriends don’t care if you double text or annoy them with countless texts before they answer. Double texting is frightening when it comes to boys and you don’t want to feel as though you’re annoying them. But with your girlfriends, it’s what happens when they become a big part of your life.
They never get tired of taking pictures.
When your boyfriend gets tired of you always taking pictures, you have your girlfriends to back you up. Your girls will always be down to take selfies, cute group photos, and learn on perfecting the sorority squat. They won’t get annoyed by your picture taking skills because they’re equally obsessed with taking pictures!
You never have to worry about them cheating after a big fight.
When couples fight, it’s often that one does something out of revenge or one thinks the other one is going to do something out of revenge. With your girlfriends, you don’t have fear that she is out cheating on you or doing something spiteful. You know that you’re going to make up and things will return back to normal in a few days.
All in all, girlfriends bring you indefinite happiness.
With them in your life, there is no heartbreak, spending sleepless nights crying, or having to deal with confusing emotions. Girlfriends are there for you through your highs and lows and they are needed to survive this crazy life. Girlfriends are our true soulmates and it’s about time we give them some damn credit for it!
