WSU Dance Marathon

Dance Marathon is an up and coming event that is currently sweeping the nation. Although mostly college and high school students are involved in the planning, people of all ages should participate. Luckily, Winona State University is having one on April 2nd. Here's why you need to go:

1. You don't have to be a good dancer.

No one cares if your moves aren't going to make you a pro.

2. You will get fed.

They understand you'll work up an appetite with all that exercise you're doing.

3. It's for the kids.

All the money raised goes to the Children's Miracle Network.

4. You get to meet the heroes.

Gundersen Lutheran Health Systems in La Crosse, WI selects heroes every year to represent their branch of the Children's Miracle Network. These amazing individuals will come to Dance Marathon and share their stories.

5. You can get a henna tattoo.

From five until nine, a henna artist will be at Dance Marathon to work her magic!

6. The photo booth has fantastic props.

Gotta love a superhero photo op.

7. A cast of Disney characters is coming.

Who's coming, you ask? I guess you'll just have to see for yourself on the second!

8. You get a free t-shirt if you raise $100.

Who doesn't love a free shirt? Better start fundraising!

9. The Ballroom Dancing Club is teaching a dance.

Embrace your inner princess (or prince!) and dance away!

10. An ice cream eating contest is happening.

On your mark, get set, BRAIN FREEZE!

11. You will connect with other participants.

Dance Marathon is such a great cause that it evokes tears from numerous participants. You will never be the same after sharing that experience together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
