Intramural sports. Whoever came up with the idea of organizing sports to seem semi-legit for competitive college students who don't play for their school is a genius. Some of y'all might not have intramural sports (I'm not sure how smaller schools do this) or maybe you're just good enough to be on your school's teams, but for those of us that aren't, this is a super fun system. So here are 13 reasons you should play intramural sports.

1. Exercise

I feel like this one should obvious.

2. Nostalgia

Many of us played sports all throughout our lives growing up, and really enjoyed them, but just don't have the crazy talent to play in college. So intramural sports give us a little throwback to the good old days.

3. Competition

I alluded to this before, but some (many) of us are very competitive people, and intramural sports are a great avenue to have some friendly competition.

4. Friends

It's a great way to meet new friends from being teammates, or getting closer to friends when y'all play together.

5. Flexible

Everyone can usually find a sport and time that works for them!

6. Hidden talents

Ok so you might not have played sports growing up and you might think that you won't be any good, but never count yourself out! Sometimes you have skills you didn't even know about.

7. The shirt

Ok so it's only intramurals and really doesn't matter, but everyone wants the shirts given to the champs.

8. Team

It's a great feeling to be a part of a team.

9. It's fun

There's just no way around it, it's straight up a lot of fun.

10. New sports

Because anyone can play anything with different levels of skill, you can try out any number of sports.

11. Because it's more sports

Honestly do we need another reason?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
