If you're anything like me, when you joined a sorority everything seemed so overwhelmingly amazing that it seemed impossible to keep up. All of a sudden you have hundreds of new sisters, your sorority color combination becomes your favorite, and you meet people who change your life. For me the best moment of joining my sorority was the day my Big came into my life. I am not sure how I went the first 18 years of my life without her, but I thank the Lord I never have to go another day without her. Even though this is particularly written about my experience with my Big, I'm sure many of you out there can relate. So K-Cole this one's for you: Here's the 11 reasons I could not possibly survive this life of mine without you.

1. Being paired as Big/Little was a gift from the Man upstairs.

I don't know about you but I'm not one to mess with His plans. I believe without a doubt that he arranged this perfect pair of ours. Although my Big and I are technically the same age, I decided to join a sorority a year after her. Had I been in her pledge class (making it impossible for her to be my Big) things in my life would surely be different. I thank God everyday for that one conversation in the union one random Tuesday that brought you into my life.

2. She has given me the most amazing gifts.

I'm not just talking about how she spoils me with Loren Hope, Kate Spade, and food (which I am thankful for as well). If it wouldn't be for my big, I'm not sure I ever would have gotten to know some of my best friends. I could sit here and talk about each person she has allowed me to get to know but let's face it, I would be here for days. She has given me people who I love, who have impacted me and who will be my friends for the rest of my life. I had to see this coming though, anyone my Big was friends with, I was sure to love.

3. She always gives graciously of what is hers.

This is not only a line from the creed we both hold near and dear to our hearts, but it is something she practices in her daily life. She will volunteer her time for anything and will do whatever it takes to push our sorority even further towards being the best we can be. She is the most perfect example of what a woman of Delta Zeta is not only to me, but to our entire chapter. I am so blessed to get to call her my Big, and I aspire to be more like her everyday.

4. She is my biggest fan.

She has cheered me on for some of my greatest accomplishments in life. From going to see my artwork hanging in a gallery, to being to first to preview my website before it was published, to supporting me through the greatest year of my life and everything else in between. She is the person I tell all of my most exciting news to right after I share it with my family. She is one of the people in my life I know is on my side and supporting me 100% no matter what crazy dream I choose to follow. I honestly don't know if I would be able to accomplish anything without her, and for that I will never be able to thank her enough.

5. She helps me thorough all of the trials life brings my way.

I have so much to be thankful for in this life of mine, but even I am not immune to the trials life seems to throw your way at the worst possible moments. I have called my Big crying some nights, only to be comforted by her soothing voice assuring me everything would be alright. Of course, she is always right about that. Things always get better. She assures me that whatever is happening will pass, but in the meantime she is the one I can count on to eat popcorn and watch "Gossip Girl" with until I start to feel better.

6. She is perfect.

My Big has taught me some of life's greatest lessons, but one that has stuck with me forever is to always be yourself and stay true to that. She has taught me that it is okay to being out my inner Carrie Bradshaw one day, and channel my Blair Waldorf the next. She has made it known to me that I should never be afraid of what people have to say and to always be confident in me. She showed me that lipstick and coffee were necessities in everyday life. I still find it necessary to channel these inner leading ladies, but most days I find myself channeling my inner Big. So thanks Big, I'll continue to leave bright pink lipstick marks on the coffee cup and not apologize for it.

7. She always manages to make my day.

I think Bigs have a little sensor in their brain that tell them when their Little needs some love but can't necessarily hang out. Well, at least my Big does. Her text messages and snapchats are sure to bring a smile to my face. Since we don't have coordinating schedules, it is so hard to make time to actually sit down and talk, but having her to text me out of the blue to catch up always makes my days brighter.

8. She makes the bad days good, and the good days better.

I think the most perfect example of this was a day last summer. I was having a really rough day, only to be made worse by the events that unfolded during my commute to campus. I was on a bridge when I accidentally popped my hood opened. Then, I stopped at a bank where I hit a trashcan onto the highway, and I also realized I had left my phone charger back at home. When I finally made it to where my Big was and told her why I was in such a bad mood, she just laughed, told me she ran a red light, and proceeded to have a second Big/Little reveal for me to the tune of "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye. I definitely hit the jackpot when it comes to Bigs.

9. She accepts my awkwardness and contributes to it with her own.

I wish I could put into words just how much our awkward tendencies mesh together to create the perfect ball of ridiculous awkwardness. I could not be more thankful to have someone who accepts me just as I am. Not only does she accept me, she also encourages me to be my best, my weirdest, and my most awkward. I'm not sure if we have ever taken a serious picture, but that is fine by me. When I look back on my college days, it will be these pictures that bring back the most memories.

10. She understands me.

This probably goes without saying, my Big just gets me. She understands the things that make me mad, happy and sad. She knows what coffee I like and what lipstick is my favorite. While all of these things make her even more perfect, she gets me on other levels as well. I cannot think of a better example than recruitment last year. We have sisters in the same grade and both of them decided to go through together. She was the person I would stress with thinking about what decision they would make. She was the person I freaked out with when we couldn't talk to them to see what they were thinking. She was the person I cried with as we watched both of our little sisters run through the door on bid day and into our arms as they joined the greatest sorority in the world. I wouldn't have wanted to share that moment and time in my life with anyone else.

11. We are stuck with each other for the rest of our life and for that, I could not be more grateful.

Big, I hope that you know all that you have done for me has impacted my life. I have listed 11 reasons here but know that I could give at least a million more as to why I am the luckiest Little in the entire world to get to call you my Big. I could not possibly get through this life without you, and I am grateful to be stuck with you. I know you're going to continue to change my life for the rest of my life, but always know I thank God twice for you.

"I love you because you have done more than any creed could have done to make me good, and more than any fate could have done to make me happy. You have done it without a touch, without a word, without a sign. You have done it by being yourself. Perhaps that is what being a big means, After all."

Love, Little Hailz.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
