If you have been thinking of joining a Greek organization and going through recruitment to rush a sorority but are still unsure about whether or not it is worth it, consider these 11 reasons to go Greek.
1. Home away from home
During recruitment, you hear all the sisters say how their sorority is their home away from home and you never understand until Bid Day when you run home to sisters that already make you feel like family.
2. Philanthropy
Giving your time to charity and something you develop a passion about is one of the best aspects of going Greek.
3. More involvement on campus
Everywhere on campus you run into other Greeks and you automatically have connections with them and always have something to talk about.
4. Older sisters
Older sisters have advice about everything, like which classes teachers are best, which boys are worth your time and which are not, and all the important things you need to know about Greek life. Older sisters helped me more than anyone during my new member period.
5. Your Fam
Whether it's just you and your big or you have a large extended fam with cousins and god big’s, your relationship with your fam is irreplaceable and a group of sisters you will have by your side far after college.
6. Your big
Your big is the big sister you have always dreamed of. She spoils you and tells you all about life and help you get through all the hard parts of your new member period. She makes you know it’s all worth it in the end and that someone is always going to be there for you.
7. Becoming a Big
The only thing better than having a big is expanding your fam and becoming one. The crafts are a lot of work and can be pricey but your relationship with your little sister is irreplaceable.
8. Letter Shirts
Shirts with your letters are just adorable and there are endless possibilities for cute shirts and almost anything else you would want with your letters on it.
9. Conversation Starter
You meet other people that are Greek or alum and you automatically feel connected to them in some way.
10. You find your bridesmaids
You make lifelong friendships that last longer than your college experience and you’ll have a couple sisters that you carry through your entire life.
11. Whatever the letters, Greeks do it better
No matter what letters you're wearing and whatever your traditions are, Greek life is an irreplaceable experience that every college student should be open to trying. Greek life can be tough and time consuming, but it is all worth it in the end.
