Prom. We all know what that means. Girls spend hours picking the perfect dress, finding the best hairstyle, perfecting their makeup, and getting their nails done. Oh, and there is also the title of prom queen. I guess that is important, isn't it? At the end of the day it is just a title, but to me every girl is a prom queen.
1. Every dress is the perfect dress.
If a girl picks a ball gown or a form fitting dress with a slit, it is the perfect dress. Who are we to criticize what she looks like? She feels like a princess, and that's what is important. It does not matter how much the dress costs or who made it. If she likes it that is all that matters.
2. Work that up-do and own that ponytail.
Hair up, hair down, or hair half up half down? The struggle to find the perfect hairstyle might be a long one but we all know how it feels to look on Pinterest for hours to find one. So do not criticize the one another girl chose. She likes the way it looks, and that is important. Her hair makes her feel like a princess.
3. The dates are great.
She has a date. She does not have a date. She took a boy that goes to a different school. Who cares? They are having fun with their date, so you have no right to judge. Why judge people on your pom night? She wants a perfect one, too. She feels like a queen with her date.
4. Everyone's night is a night to remember.
Even if you are not crowned queen, you still get to go to prom and have an awesome night. Prom is a blast, with all of the dancing and singing like idiots with your best friends. You get to make memories that last a lifetime with friends you won't forget. So have fun and don't worry about extraneous details.
5. You only ever get one prom. Why be negative?
What is the point of tearing someone down at prom? You only do get one prom. Maybe some of you went to a few proms, but you only ever get your own senior prom one time. Make it a happy, positive, and safe environment. Not one that tears others down. Positivity is an attribute of a queen, dear.
6. Girl, your shoes are drop dead gorgeous.
Prom means accessories and accessories mean fun. Who cares if she wore black shoes with her dress when silver may have looked better? She loves them, and they are super cute. Just another piece that makes her a queen in her own rite.
7. Wow, who did your makeup?
Your eyes are dramatic, subtle, and gorgeous. How did you do that? I love it. It brings your eyes out and makes you look like a queen—better yet, a goddess.
8. Pictures, pictures, and more pictures
You look gorgeous, you look gorgeous, and you look gorgeous. It is like Oprah at prom. All the compliments come flying around, and after all it does make you feel like quite the queen, doesn't it? Plus all the memories you get to have from those pictures are endless.
9. Backup dancers? Not at prom.
You all get to show off your crazy, stupid, silly, messy, yet very fun dance moves. Who cares if you make a fool of yourself? High school is almost over, so make the fun times last. Dancing is something a queen does, after all.
10. Your personality is flawless.
Throw those compliments around like it is your job. That person may be so mean to you in class, but kill them with kindness. Queens are nice to everyone.
11. Princess.
You enter prom a princess, but you leave a queen. All that preparation for you to be a queen has not gone to waste. You may not have been officially crowned, but you started the night as a princess. And the minute you walked through that door, you became a queen.
