11 Lessons 'Legally Blonde' Taught Us

Bubbly, silly, quotable Elle Woods is a female role model for our generation. Though her journey to being a big-time lawyer is somewhat misguided, she proved to many that having faith in yourself and not giving up are the best qualities to implement in your life. So without further ado, 11 life lessons from Elle Woods.

1. When others underestimate you, prove them wrong

Elle went from bubbly sorority girl that no one, not even her parents, thought could get into Harvard Law. Three years later? She's graduating from Harvard with a killer job at a Boston firm. So when others say you can't, show them you will.

2. Set your goals high and work hard to make them a reality

Elle worked her butt off studying for the LSAT, going from 140s on the practice test to an insane 179 on the actual exam. And when she was not succeeding in class, she made the changes to show she was meant to be there. Even though these were initially spawned by the affections of Warner, her college boyfriend, Elle worked to make her dreams happen and adjusted as her dreams evolved.

3. Be kind, even to your biggest adversaries

Vivian, Warner's fiancée, was very cold to Elle at the beginning of "Legally Blonde" because she saw her as a threat (rightfully so, but still). And how did Elle respond? "You look nice today, Vivian," or admitting to Paulette that minus some mascara and highlights, she was pretty.

4. Know the time to give a biting comeback

"When I try to dress like a frigid bitch, I try not to look so constipated," Elle said to Vivian after showing up to a kickback as if it were a costume party. BURN.

5. “You have all the equipment, you just have to read the manual”

Elle sees the beauty in everyone and tries her best to let others be confident in who they are. The bend-and-snap is silly, but she was showing Paulette that she could totally get the delivery guy if she wanted to.

6. The power of a great outfit

Gets a rad internship? Goes shopping. Decides to go to D.C. to fight animal testing? Goes shopping. A great outfit is a powerful thing, people.

7. Love is worth fighting for

Even though her intentions when applying for law school were a little misguided, Elle didn't give up on Warner and proved to him that she was worthy of his love -- that is, till she realized that he was a "complete bonehead" and went for the uber-cute and successful Emmett.

8. Give people a chance

Elle accepted Vivian's friendliness later on in the film as they bonded over the case for their internship. Just goes to show that you can find friends in the most unlikely of places.

9. Be a loyal friend

Sure, Paulette was goddamn spastic, but Elle loved her anyways!

When she finally started taking her classes seriously, Elle helped Paulette get her dog back from her ex-husband. And in return, Paulette was always there for Elle to vent to. So basically, be a good friend, and you will have good friends to depend on.

10. The rules of hair care are simple and finite.

(And might just win you a high-profile court case. Just saying.)

And finally:

11. Endorphins make you happy

Because duh.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
