Overall, I feel lucky to be able to attend college because I’m well aware that not everybody is able to have that opportunity. But putting education aside, here are a few unfortunate and incredibly annoying daily inconveniences that college students have to deal with:
1. The bus transit.
Do I cross-country sprint to the bus stop down the street to make the bus that just passed my building, or do I painfully wait another 15-20 minutes before the next bus arrives?
2. Shower shoes.
Perfect for wading through the shower swamp that occupies the entire bathroom floor ALL HOURS OF THE DAY.
3. The resident hall's damage bills.
Who peed in the elevator?
4. Empty soap/paper towel dispensers.
I’m glad I pay $20,000 every year to not have good hygiene.
5. Surprise fire alarms.
They are even better at 3 a.m.
6. 8 a.m. classes
I can’t wait to wake up at 7:10, walk all the way across campus with the appearance that I definitely just rolled out of bed, only to attend a class where I learned nothing because I was thinking about the nap I was going to take later.
7. Stairs v.s. elevator.
The struggle of being too lazy to take the stairs but having to do the walk-of-shame when you get off the elevator on the first floor.
8. Finding time to exercise.
Should I go to the gym before or after Taco Tuesday?
9. Limited closet space.
Because you absolutely needed to bring back those eight sweaters from home last weekend.
10. Laundry day.
When the app tells you there are available washing machines, but when you get there they are all being used by clothes that people forgot to pick up.
11. The smell.
I love getting to my floor and being greeted by a mixture scent of burnt popcorn, weed, and dirty laundry - home sweet home.
