11 Halloween Costumes I Don't Want To See This Year

Make people scream for all the right reasons.

11 Halloween Costumes I Don't Want To See This Year

Anyone who personally knows me can attest to two things. One, Halloween is my favorite holiday and two, I rarely get offended. So this year when I was on the hunt for the perfect Halloween costume a rare occurrence happened. I browsed through the Internet and groaned as I questioned how manufacturers and the general public could be so ignorant and actually come up with these tasteless costumes. They range from semi comical poking fun at the latest news to 100 percent please do not EVER wear this.

1. Sexy Donald Trump.

Nothing screams sexy quite like a comb-over, ignorance, and hatred towards nearly every group of people!

2. Celebrity sex offenders.

From Bill Cosby to Subway's Josh Fogle, and 19 Kids and Counting's Josh Duggar, the media has given us lots of costume ideas to help be insensitive towards the victims of these crimes.

3. Walter Palmer, the killer dentist.

A company gets to make profits off of fake blood and a severed lion head of Cecil the Lion. While they are giving 15 percent of their profits to the African Wildlife Foundation, you're probably better off donating yourself, and just dressing up as a sexy cat for the tenth Halloween in a row.

4. A sexy eating disorder.

Complete with a skeleton, measuring tape, and heart that reads "anorexia", its official title is 'Anna Rexia' and I think that says it all.

5. Ahmed Mohamed.

Ahmed Mohammed is the 14-year-old who was arrested for bringing a clock to school that teachers claim to have mistakenly thought was a bomb. President Obama even reached out to Mohamed to show support for his love of science. He has the president backing him up, so he doesn't need idiots going out and making light of the act of racism by wearing the costume titled, "Clock Bomb Boy."

6. Sexy ISIS terrorist.

Nothing is sexier than imitating executions by holding severed heads, parading around with fake guns and machetes, bombings, and terror, right?

7. Caitlyn Jenner.

While Caitlyn herself didn't find the costume of her Vanity Fair cover offensive, I definitely find this version of the costume questionable. Costumes like this treat being transgender as a game of dress up instead of the very real lives of a marginalized group of people.

8. Sexy Nazi.

No, making it sexy doesn't make it any less tasteless, racist, or hurtful towards the 11 million people who died during the Holocaust.

9. Blackface.

Celebrity Julianne Hough took the heat for dressing in blackface a few years ago and rightfully so. Blackface dates back to a time when the United states was incredibly racist and oppressive where Caucasian people would paint their faces black and act out racist stereotypes of African Americans for entertainment purposes. There is absolutely no way to make blackface not offensive so just don't do it.

10. A "Little Amigo."

Walmart sold this costume depicting a racially stereotyped Mexican person on a little white boy. They removed it from their website because their policy doesn't permit selling "products that either portray, glorify, or promote in an insensitive way, derogatory stereotyping based on race, ethnicity or nationality." Walmart removed it and you probably shouldn't wear anything like it either.

11. Sexy Native American.

Native Americans are a group that have been constantly oppressed and ignored so the sale of a costume titled "Makin' Reservations" screams racism so loud. Making it sexy allows you to borrow aspects of another culture and not have to deal with the consequences and oppressions that come along with that culture. Don't do it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
