There is a whole wide world of games that have yet to be discovered by many. Sure, everyone hears about the big games that rack up tons of hype, but there are plenty of games that go unnoticed. I have a list of 11 of those games that more people should be playing, not listed in any particular order.
11. Board Game Online
Board Game Online is a free-to-play browser game that combines board game and role playing elements. It can be played with friends or strangers, you can play on a team or individually, there are many modes to explore and try out, it's a game of chaos and fun. There are so many random moments and there are many pop culture references that will give you a good laugh. Plus, there's a jukebox playing music from YouTube in the top left corner during games. The songs are picked by the player whose turn it is when the current song ends.
10. Project X Zone
Project X Zone and Project X Zone 2 are basically the fanfiction of games. It pulls multiple different characters from not only different games, but also different companies and puts them into one universe to interact and save all of the worlds. It pulls characters from Devil May Cry to Street Fighter. It's a turn-based strategy game for the 3DS and worth every penny.
9. 100% Orange Juice
100% Orange Juice is an anime style board game on Steam. It moves really quickly, so it may take a bit of time to get used to, but it is insanely fun once you get it. There are many cute little characters to pick from, more so if you buy the DLC packs, and they each have different stats and abilities. The board game is played using virtual dice and ability cards, which you use to move around the board, lay traps and fight other players. It's cute, strange and definitely worth checking out.
8. Risk of Rain
Risk of Rain is an indie game on Steam. It's an action platformer with rogue-like elements. The game is made to be best played with friends, but it is possible to complete on your own. It's not easy, though. The game is made to be insanely difficult, as no matter what mode you pick, the difficulty raises every few minutes. Permanent death is also a feature. If you die, you have to start back at the very beginning. There are no saves. It's a hard game to master, but if you love a challenge, I highly recommend Risk of Rain.
7. Yo-Kai Watch
Yo-Kai Watch is a unique Pokemon "clone" for the 3DS that centers around a young boy/girl who finds and befriends Yo-Kai, which are essentially demons, and uses them to fight evil Yo-Kai that are terrorizing people. The battles always contain six Yo-Kai, which you can change around and try to organize to create the ultimate team. Only three can be on the field at a time, but they are easily rotated around by using the bottom screen. The game is very well done and is very original.
6. Amnesia: Memories
5. BattleBlock Theater
4. The Royal Trap: The Confines Of The Crown
3. Town of Salem
Town of Salem is a browser game, but there is also a steam version available. In this game, you can play with friends and/or strangers in a small town. Every person in the game is assigned a job and has to fulfill the requirements set for that job in order to win. For some roles all you need to do is survive, but for others you need to kill all who oppose you. It's a very random game and you don't always get the most fun people to play with, but if the cards are set just right this game can be hilarious and a lot of fun.
2. Game Dev Tycoon
Game Dev Tycoon is a tycoon game where you play as an up-and-coming game developer at a time where PC gaming was just becoming a thing. You play throughout the ages of game development, from old bulky desktop computers to the NES to the PlayStation and so on. The goal of the game is to become one of the best game developers and make millions.
1. Conception II
Conception II is a 3DS dungeon RPG with an anime style and turn-based battles. The stories from the first game and this one are unrelated, so you can play either without having to play the other. In the game, players control a high school student whose school is also a training facility for demon hunters. The protagonist has an extremely high amount of ether in his body, which allows him to conceive Star Children to fight demons by 'classmating' with his other classmates. During battle, fighters can be strategically placed around the enemies, allowing players to either safely target weak points or charge head on for bigger rewards. The girls are well written and a lot of fun to interact with. They all feel important and make the player want to go through all their side stories. It's a fun 3DS game that I highly recommend if you have the money to buy it.
There are a lot of games out there and I hope that reading this helped you come up with some new games to play in the future. I recommend all of the games listed and have sunk in more hours than I would like to admit playing them. Happy playing!
