Every college student faces a choice: what to pack, and what can fit in the tiny dorm. For the girl who loves her makeup and all of the tools that come with that, these decisions get harder and harder. These are the top beauty products I would recommend to college students. Most of these products can even be stuffed in a makeup bag to apply between classes! You can find these products in a local drugstore, Planet Beauty, or Sephora.
1. Maybelline Dream Velvet Soft-Matte Hydrating Foundation
I use this foundation all the time. It can be found at any drugstore, and is priced at a great value. You can buy a Maybelline beauty blender to go with it, which makes the foundation blend much more smoothly. It has great coverage, but doesn't look cake-y on your face like some more expensive foundations.
2. Frankie Rose Cosmetics Prime Addiction Face Primer
This is a relatively new product, but it is one of the best primers around. The primer has no oils in it, so it feels really nice on the face. Not only that, but it makes foundation stay on so well. It's my new go-to primer.
3. Urban Decay Naked 2 Basics Palette
I love the Naked palettes from Urban Decay more than I love my own life. They are simply the best palettes for everyone. However, if you don't have the money or space for the full-size palettes, the Basics set is a must. The palette comes with six shades, which are absolutely gorgeous. It's a great set if you're on the go, or just want a simple look. You can also get the Naked 1 Basics palette, but I like these colors much more. They give a greater range of looks.
4. Bare Minerals Lash Domination Mascara
I've played around with a lot of mascaras, trying to find the best one that will improve volume, length, and will dry quickly. This is the best. It makes your lashes look so full and so long, they almost look fake. One tube will last about six months, so you rarely need to go back to the store to buy it. A little really goes a long way.
5. Smashbox Limitless Eyeliner
There's a big demand for liquid eyeliner these days, but If you're looking for something a little less messy, this is the best choice. I use this liner every day, whether I'm just going to class or going out to dinner. It has great precision, and doesn't rub off into the crease easily. The liner also comes with an attached sharpener, which is always a plus.
6. Smashbox Be Legendary Lip Gloss
I'm not a huge fan of lipstick or lip gloss; I hardly ever use it. This lip gloss, though, is amazing. It doesn't feel sticky and gives your lips a great pigment. There are tons of colors to choose from and all of them are beautiful.
7. Frankie Rose Cosmetics Pro On The Go Brush Set
Brushes are one of the only things where quality is more important than price. The right brushes mean everything. This set is $56, which may seem high, but you're getting seven high-quality brushes that are normally $30 each. Not only are they a great value, but these brushes are fantastic. They're very soft and they make makeup go on like a dream.
8. e.l.f. Cosmetics Shadow Lock Eyelid Primer
Yes, eyelid primer is different than face primer. This eyelid primer is better than any other brand. It's the only formula that will actually keep your eye makeup in place. Every other brand seems to just smear it within a few hours. e.l.f. makeup tends to be low-quality, but this is by far their best product.
9. Benefit Cosmetics Watts Up! Cream Highlighter
Highlighter is the name of the game when it comes to makeup these days. Lots of makeup artists even started a challenge to do your entire face using only highlighters (which just makes you look like a glazed donut. I don't recommend attempting it). This highlighter gives a glow to your look, but isn't overpowering like other highlighters. I also like the cream texture on my face; it feels amazing.
10. NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil
This lip pencil doesn't even feel like lipstick, and you get the best color. It is truly the best of both worlds. It's available in lots of colors, and you can even put a gloss over it to get a shinier look. Personally, I like to use a matte lip to give more drama to a look.
11. Boots No. 7 Quick Thinking 4-in-1 Makeup Wipes
At the end of the day, you have to take all of your makeup off. Not just your eyes, all of it. This will keep your face from breaking out overnight. These makeup wipes have everything. They take off makeup really well, as well as hydrate and cleanse your face. You can pick these up at Target, and they're not that expensive for a package of two. These wipes are the absolute best.
