1. Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children
"Teenager Jacob follows clues that take him to a mysterious island, where he discovers the crumbling ruins of Miss Peregrine's School for Peculiar Children. As Jacob explores the abandoned bedrooms and hallways, he discovers that its former occupants were far more than peculiar; they possessed incredible powers. And they may still be alive." - IMDb synopsis
The book includes vintage photography to illustrate the the children on the island and more. If you're into creepy things, this is the book for you. Not only is the book weirdly amazing, but, Tim Burton is directing the movie. Perfection.
Excitement level: 6/10
2. Allegiant (Divergent #3)
"Beatrice Prior and Tobias Eaton venture into the world outside of the fence and are taken into protective custody by a mysterious agency known as the Bureau of Genetic Welfare." - IMDb synopsis
With this series, I found the books to be much better than the movies. Once you've read the books, though, definitely see the movies. This is the first installation of the final book, the second part will be called "The Divergent Series: Ascendant" and will be released in 2017. If you haven't already read this series, do it. Veronica Roth creates a dystopian world unlike any other and you won't be able to put it down.
Excitement level: 5/10
3. The 5th Wave (The 5th Wave, #1)
"Four waves of increasingly deadly alien attacks have left most of Earth decimated. Cassie is on the run, desperately trying to save her younger brother" - IMDb synopsis
I started reading this book at 8:00 p.m. and was done by midnight. I couldn't stop reading and I hope the movie brings about that same kind of urgency to find out what happens to the characters.
Excitement level: 7/10
4. Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them
"The adventures of writer Newt Scamander in New York's secret community of witches and wizards seventy years before Harry Potter reads his book in school." -IMDb synopsis
It's been almost five years since the final Harry Potter movie was released and as HP fans, we want more. This movie, starring Eddie Redmayne, is highly anticipated and, personally, I cant wait until November 2016 to see it.
Excitement level: 8/10
5. The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight
"A teenage girl misses her flight at JFK Airport and meets a young British guy who may turn out to be her true love." - IMDb synopsis
This book is kind of predictable and cliché. But isn't that exactly what you're looking for in a YA romance? Hailee Steinfeld from "Pitch Perfect 2" and Robert Sheehan star in the movie adaptation.
Excitement level: 6/10
6. Fallen (Fallen, #1)
"A young girl finds herself in a reform school after therapy since she was blamed for the death of a young boy. At the school she finds herself drawn to a fellow student, unaware that he is an angel, and has loved her for thousands of years." -IMDb synopsis
There's not much love for this book because it was released around the same time "Twilight" was at its peak and the YA supernatural romance novels were all being held up to the "Twilight" standard. But the movie should be interesting and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
Excitement level: 6/10
7. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies
"Jane Austen's classic tale of the tangled relationships between lovers from different social classes in 19th century England is faced with a new challenge -- an army of undead zombies." - IMDb synopsis
Okay, so Pride and Prejudice is one of my favorite books of all time so let's just say I'm excited to see where they go with this modern take.
Excitement level: 5/10
8. A Monster Calls
"A boy seeks the help of a tree monster to cope with his single mom's terminal illness." IMDb synopsis
This book is a mix between graphic novel and YA fiction. It capitalizes on the creepy images and that is why I think it's going to make a great movie.
Excitement level: 7/10
9. Before I Fall
"A high school student finds herself caught living what could be her last day on Earth over and over, until she gets things right." - IMDb synopsis
This modern day YA version of "Groundhog Day' is one of Lauren Oliver's better books. It's one of those books you love to hate.
Excitement level: 6/10
10. Looking For Alaska
"A new arrival at a boarding school falls in love with a beguiling female student." - IMDb synopsis
This synopsis does not do this book justice. This book is one of my favorite of all time. John Green's book-to-movie adaptations have been highly anticipated and fans (including me) will riot if this movie does not live up to its potential.
Excitement level: 11/10
