10 Ways to pass the time on an airplane

Since I'm taking a trip to India this week, I've decided to compile a list of ways to pass the time on a long airplane flight across the world.

1. Watch the In-flight Movies

The airlines that fly across the world usually have tiny tvs on the back of the seat in front of you, so you can watch a few movies while waiting for your flight to end.

2. Sleep

You can stay up late the night before your flight or tire yourself out playing a sport or something else you can sleep through at least half the flight and avoid running out of things to do.

3. Family Bonding time

If your traveling with family this might be just the time to catch up and find out what everyone's been up to or to just play a few games to pass the time.

4. Strike up a conversation with your neighbor

If your traveling alone and aren't shy you can always try and make a new friend by chatting to the person sitting next to you. Since your both traveling to the same place, talking about the sites or activites to do there can be a good icebreaker.

5. Read a book

For the introverts who love books this is the perfect chance to start or finish a book that you've been meaning to read and haven't gotten to.

6. Get caught up with studying/work

Spring break travellers or those of you taking a vacation during Christmas can also use this time to catch up on any studying you've been avoiding or finishing any bucket list items you have ignored.

7. Learn about the place

Every country has its own history and culture. Reading about the the local beliefs or customs can broaden your own knowledge and avoid making you look like the stereotypical uncultured American tourist.

8. Learn the language

While there isn't enough time to become fluent, you can learn a few words like "Hello" and a few phrases that may come in handy in case you get lost and the locals don't speak English fluently.

9. Download some movies or anime

The airplane's wifi is normally too crowded by the number of people on the flight to let you watch movies on your laptop online, but if you download them ahead of time you can watch them offline.

10. Light online browsing

You can still check your emails, read the news, or surf the web although the speed isn't great.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
