Airplane Thoughts

It's hard to travel.

Airplane Thoughts

While on a plane, we're surrounded by a bunch of strangers who are also 25,000 ft up in the air in a small uncomfortable chair with no internet access. When stuck on a plane, your mind tends to wander off and you start to contemplate your life choices and whats happening around you. So here are a few thoughts that I have had recently while in the air.

1. Well this is so classic, I'm sitting next to a baby again.

2. Typical, the guy in front of me is extending his chair. No it's okay, sir, I don't need leg room.

3. We have been on the tarmac for 20 minutes. Why is this plane not moving yet?

4. What kind of plane is this anyway?

5. Oh god, I have to fart. Can I get away with it or do I just go for it and sit out the awkward silence?

6. Oh, we're taking off!

7. I would really like to not have this pressure it my head. Okay, maybe I will try the ear pop tactic ... Oh no, thats not working. Classic. Pull it together, ears! You can do it!

8. Oh, oh no. I farted. Well, lets see how this goes.

9. The lady is looking at me ... Avoid eye contact and act like nothing happened. You can do this.

10. Is the engine supposed to be making that noise?

11. What if we just crashed right now?

12. How does this thing even fly? Like I know how, but how does it fly?

13. What if I could fly?

14. That would be so dope if I could fly. I would go everywhere man, and do such cool trips, too.

15. Lets be real, I would probably fly away from my problems.

16. Oh, score! The drink cart is coming our way.

17. Ugh, I wish I was 21. Just two more years. You can make it.

18. Crap. What do I want? Ah! This is a hard decision. Too many possibilities! Maybe I will mix it up and go for the Coke.... Nah, play it safe. You know you want the Sprite.

19. Ah, man, the baby is crying.

20. I wonder if it pooped. Or maybe it's hungry. Nah, probably just pooped.

21. Wow clouds are so fluffy. Such a disappointment you can't jump on them...

22. Hmm, getting tired. I think I'll take a nap.

23. Alright, let the battle for a comfy position to sleep in commence.

24. Ugh, ow. My neck hurts.

25. WHY IS IT SO HARD TO SLEEP ON PLANES?

26. Ok, I give up.

27. What to do? What. To. Do?

28. Oh! I have a book. I can read!

29. Alright, that book is boring. No more of that.

30. How much time do I have left?

31. THREE HOURS? HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE?

32. Ugh. Seriously, what am I going to do?

33. I guess I will just sit here and listen to music.

34. Oh, hell yeah! This playlist is fire! *dances in seat and gets weird looks from the kid across the aisle*

35. Well, that kid is giving me a look.

36. Oh my God, is he reading Tolstoy?

37. He is like 11. How is that even possible?

38. I haven't even read that book! Wow. This 11 year old kid is smarter than me. What am I doing with my life?

39. Well now I'm depressed.

40. GET ME OFF THIS PLANE.

41. Oh heck yes the plane is descending ... like my GPA ...

42. Ooohh! I think I might actually tough up and ride the baggage claim this time.

43. Yeah. I'm going to do it.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
