10 Ways To Chill The Heck Out After Finals Week

I promise there is no yoga or meditation included.

We've made it. Another semester, another week (or more) of finals. Maybe you're stressed about your French final, or that chemistry lab write-up. Whatever you may have during finals week, I hope you know that we are all in this together. We will get through this hellish week, and come out on the other side stronger than we were before. Am I being dramatic? Possibly. However, I know how difficult it can be for some people. I present to you, 10 ways to decompress after finals (or between them) that are definitely not on every other list.

1. Watch "This Might Get" on YouTube

If you are a fan of the lovely trio of Mamrie Hart, Grace Helbig, and Hannah Hart, then you will love this internet show. It only includes 2/3 of the trio, but that's enough to make my day. Start with episode one here and get ready to binge!

2. Refresh your Spotify playlist

Have you heard Ariana Grande's single "No Tears Left To Cry", Nicki Minaj's "Chun-Li", or Cardi B's "I Like It"? Phenomenal. Grab a hairbrush as a makeshift microphone, turn on your music, and jam the hell out. (I recommend this after your dormmates have finished studying).

3. Take a trip downtown

It may feel like the last thing you should do, but it seriously will not hurt to take a break and have a change of scenery. Take a friend to lunch, or just walk around and enjoy the fresh air. I'm sure you're sick of seeing campus every day. You might even see a dog or two while you're there.

4. Write some poetry

It doesn't have to be good, and nobody ever has to read it. However, it's good to stretch your creative muscles after studying for uncreative subjects like math or science. If you're a creative writing major like me, you're probably rolling your eyes. I promise it's worth it.

5. Buy yourself a gift

Give yourself something to look forward to. If you can afford it, buy yourself some new shoes or a dress online. Build up your summer wardrobe. Plan a cute outfit for summer vacation. I love anticipating packages, and it'll be a pleasant surprise.

6. Eat your favorite treat

Now is the time to truly *treat* yourself. No guilt allowed.

7. Take that long-awaited nap

Be that person who wakes up and looks forward to the nap you will give yourself after you finish your finals. You've earned it.

8. Stock up on face masks

Did someone say "self-care"? Keep that face of yours healthy, happy, and looking fresh. Those finals week under-eye bags could use some pampering.

9. Talk to a loved one

It can be your mom, uncle, sister, best friend, girlfriend, etc. Anyone who will cheer you up, or take your mind off of things is worth talking to.

10. Clean your room

I promise I'm not just nagging you. I know that it drives me crazy when a certain part of my room needs to be reorganized. You will definitely feel better once it is clean and you can stop thinking about it. Plus, it gives you an excuse to do something other than studying but equally as productive.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
