12 Ways Life Is Better With You

To the love of my life,

There are so many things that I love about you. I could probably write a book. From your adorable smile to the way your eyes light up when you are doing something you're enthusiastic about. One of the parts I love most about having you in my world is the remarkable impact you have made on my life. That is why I want to take the time to let you know just a few of the ways my life is better with you in it.

1. Doing even the most ordinary things with you can feel like an adventure.

You make a simple trip to the mall or a walk in the park so much fun. Pumpkin picking, road trips on a summer day, or going swimming, are all so much more exciting with you by my side.

2. You are always my shoulder to cry on.

Knowing that I have you to turn to after an awful day is such a comforting feeling. I know that no matter how bad something may seem at the time, I have someone who will help me through whatever I am dealing with.

3. You listen to my girl drama.

'

I doubt you really care what (insert name) said about (insert name), but the fact that you listen (or at least do a really good job of pretending to listen) really shows how awesome you are. I especially love when you give your input on whatever drama I'm telling you about.

4. You are my "Binge Watch" buddy.

Whether it's American Horror Story, Orange Is The New Black, or Friends, I treasure the time we spend watching them on the couch together. I think this is also the appropriate time to thank you for watching The Bachelor, Teen Mom, and Keeping up with The Kardashians with me. You're the real MVP.

5. When I need help deciding, you help me make decisions.

From decisions regarding which shade of pink I should paint my nails to more serious decisions like which graduate program I should enroll in, you are always there to help if I am indecisive.

6. You are the first person I look forward to calling when I get good news.

I swear whenever I receive good news I almost instinctively pick up the phone to call you. I love hearing your reaction and I love you being the first person to congratulate me. The best part is that you get just as excited as I do.

7. You are the first person I go to when I get bad news.

I can tell you everything and that's especially reassuring whenever I receive bad news. Sometimes I don't want the whole world to know something, but I still have the need tell someone. I don't have to worry about looking foolish or being judged when I tell you something. It's a great feeling to know that I can be completely honest with you and I don't have to worry about you telling anyone my business.

8. I have someone to give me their honest opinion.

You are great because you don't lie just to make me feel better. You will tell me if the dress I am looking at looks absolutely ridiculous. I know you would stop me before I got an awful haircut that you know I would ultimately regret. Even when it comes to giving me your honest opinion on what you think I should add to my English paper or if you truly think I'll have enough time to run to Starbucks before work. You always have my best interest at heart.

9. You're supportive.

You are always my number one fan and while sometimes you may not completely agree with the decisions I make, you are always there to support me at the end of the day. You love to see me do good, but you are just as proud of me when I lose. You don't get jealous at any of my success and you even show off my accomplishments.

10. I have someone who accepts me for exactly the way I am.

You treat like I am just as beautiful in an over-sized t-shirt with no makeup and a messy bun, as I am when my "makeup is poppin' and my hair is "on fleek". I've never had to act like someone I'm not, when I'm around you. You know my flaws and weaknesses, and you accept them. It's an incredible feeling to know I have someone who truly embraces every ounce of the person that I am.

11. I have someone to be silly with.

I love how we can bring out each other's playful side. I don't always have to take life so seriously when I'm with you. We have so many weird yet hilarious inside jokes together and it doesn't take much for you to have me hysterically laughing.

12. The future seems less scary with the thought of having you by my side.

I don't know where I'll be or what I'll be doing five years from now or even in a year. And while that can be terrifying and stressful to think about, I know I'll be fine because I'll have you along for the journey.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
