10 Ways I've Procrastinated During Finals Week

A lot of people procrastinate during finals, this is how I did it

10 Ways I've Procrastinated During Finals Week
Huffington Post

Everyone knows that finals week is a stressful time. But rather than just get everything out of the way as soon as possible, like I would like to do, I have instead procrastinated to no end! Here are just a few ways I've managed to avoid everything I'm supposed to be doing.

1) Surfed the internet

To be fair, I do this no matter if it’s finals week or not… especially if I’m supposed to be writing an essay. I go to look up one piece of information, and suddenly I’m watching a YouTube video on how to make a sock-puppet theatre.

2) Binge-watched Netflix

I can honestly say I’ve seen the entirety of Futurama at least six times since starting this semester. Even as I'm writing this (while simultaneously writing my finals) I have Netflix on in the background.

3) Read as many books not related to my finals as possible

Anyone who knows me or has even seen me on campus can probably guess that I am an avid reader of Young Adult novels, based on the fact that I always have one in my hands and three more in my backpack. I love to be able to escape into fantasy worlds, and lately has been no exception. In fact, I believe I've been trying to read more so I don't have to write.

4) Played with my pets

Here's a picture of my puppy, Bristol. Isn't she cute? Well, anyway, since I only live about an hour away from Boston, I went home a few different weekends to spend time with my family and pets. Definitely worth it.

5) Shopped online

Within the last two months, I have bought probably around 50 books online for insanely cheap. I've shopped on Amazon, Barnes and Noble, BookOutlet... a lot of shopping.

6) Slept a LOT

I'm lazy. I'll be honest. And one thing I love to do... is sleep. When I'm done with classes, I sleep. When I get back from work, I sleep. After waking up from sleeping, I want to sleep some more.

7) Explored other articles on the Odyssey

When I'm not sure what article I should write next, I'll explore the website. And sometimes, when I'm writing an essay and get bored, I'll hop on and skim through the popular pages.

8) Played Plants vs. Zombies

I know, I know, this game is old. There are a bunch of newer games I could be playing. But I love this game, and downloaded it specifically during finals week so I could have something to do while I'm trying to avoid my work.

9) Got a book-review blog set up

Since I'm obsessed with reading, I decided it would be awesome to set up a blog for reviewing books. Above is a picture I took for the blog (by the way, all of these books are amazing!)

Here's the link, if you want to check it out: http://arisbookreviews.blogspot.com/

And finally…

10) Stressed because all I’ve done is procrastinate!

I believe this picture sums up how finals week is going for me. I can't wait for semester break!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
