Most daughters know what it is like to be embarrassed by their father growing up, and most of us learn to see it for what it is: his duty as a father. Even though my father has made it his life mission to try to embarrass me, he doesn’t compare to Ivanka Trump’s father.

Ivanka, we can only begin to feel your pain.

1. Dad wears a T-shirt with my baby face on it every Father’s Day morning. Ivanka’s father proclaimed on national TV that he would date her if they weren’t related.

2. Dad loves to torture me by raising his hands in the air and visibly bounce along to music when we’re in the car. Ivanka’s father openly mocked a reporter with a disability on live television.

3. Dad enjoys that my friends jokingly created the Mr. Puzzo Fan Club. Ivanka’s father risked diplomatic relations with China after speaking to Taiwanese president Tsai Ing-wen on the telephone so that he could be congratulated on winning the election.

4. Dad wears baseball pajama pants on the Mets Opening Day that are more suitable for a six-year old. Ivanka’s father acts like a six-year old whenever anyone does something that he doesn’t like.

5. Dad tries to photobomb photos my mom takes of me with my friends. Ivanka’s father pushed Prime Minister of Montenegro Duško Marković out of the way to get to the front of the world leaders at the G7 Summit in May.

6. Dad jokes that my friends like him more than they like me. Trump boasted that he possesses one of the highest I.Q.’s of anyone.

7. Dad annoyingly yells at the TV when he watches his Mets or Jets. He hates when they lose. Ivanka’s dad has no tolerance for those he perceives as losers either. He famously spoke about Senator John McCain when he said, “He’s not a war hero. He’s a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren’t captured.”

8. Whenever I leave my room, Dad jokes good-naturedly that it must be “feeding time.” Ivanka’s dad referred to Alicia Machado, the 1996 Miss Universe Winner, as “Miss Piggy” in reference to her weight.

9. Dad enjoys nicknames, his favorite for me being “Smosby”, in reference to Ted Mosby’s nickname in “How I Met Your Mother.” Ivanka’s dad also has nicknames for people. Popular ones include: Crooked Hillary, Psycho Joe, Crazy Mika, Little Marco, Low-Energy Jeb and Lyin’ Ted.

10. Dad thinks that he’s the coolest dad around. Ivanka’s father also creates “alternative facts”, such as his assertion that global warming is a hoax "created by and for the Chinese."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
