We all have those bands that are smaller or seem smaller than the mainstream music but are still amazing. While listening to your favorite genre is great but stepping out of your comfort zone is good too.
1. Set It Off
This pop punk band from Tampa, Florida knows hows to make a great flow of different beats to please everyone. Ranging from punk to pop influenced sound, they are a band everyone can enjoy no matter the age or genre style.
2. Ghost Town
This Los Angeles, California native electronic rock group brings in elements of synth and rock into one. Inspired by all things creepy and unusual they blend a mix of paranormal and “normal” things like being in love. Being a super energetic fun group they are definitely worth a listen.
3. PVRIS
PVRIS is a rock band from Lowell, Massachusetts, getting big in 2014 for their song Smoke. They have defiantly grown and become big in the rock/punk community. While their is no “stereotypical screaming” they are making it big for their rocker image and sounds. Winning multiple awards, going on a host of tv and award shows and going on their own headlining tour, they are making it big quickly. They are extremely hard workers and I can see why they are so popular being a fan myself and supporting them even before they got big since myself being local to Lowell, it is nice seeing someone from my area getting big.
4. SayWeCanFly
SayWeCanFly or Braden Barrie is a “emo” acoustic artist from Lindsay, Canada, starting in 2009 but gaining major traction in 2013 for his song Scars, when he released a music video for the same year to YouTube and being promoted by the popular interviewer named Bryan Stars. While Braden mixes in some electronic, pop and punk in with is music to create a unique mix, he primarily makes upbeat acoustic.
5. Mod Sun
Dylan Smith or better known Mod Sun is a rap rocker from Bloomington, Minnesota, primarily known for his song My Hippie, he makes a infusion of rap and rock songs that make for a pleasurable time. While most songs are about being happy, finding yourself, being a hippie, peace and being true to yourself. He defiantly knows how to get a crowd happy, energetic and dancing.
6. Sleeping With Sirens
Sleeping With Sirens is a rock band from Orlando, Florida, while the band is popular and considered one of the biggest in the scene they are still worth a listen. They are fun, energetic and overall really cool sound.
7. Pierce The Veil
Another band that is considered huge in the rock community Pierce The Veil hails from San Diego, California, while arguable a lot of the fanbase says they have created a new genre called “mexicore” which is Mexican hardcore music. Being big in the community they have come out with their own documentary called This Is A Wasteland in 2013. If someone listens to hardcore or rock most likely Pierce The Veil comes to mind first. They work incredibly hard and have come very far from starting in late 2006 early 2007.
8. This Wild Life
Starting in 2010 from Long Beach, California This Wild Life is a acoustic pop-punk duo. They make chilled out music you could listen to any time of day or night, they incorporate different elements of acoustic and pop-punk to create a sound like no other. They are a peaceful band who became popular in 2014-2015 with their most popular current song being Concrete.
9. Lights
Lights also known as Valerie Poxleitner is a pop/rock singer from Timmins, Canada. Lights also incorporates some pop-punk and electronic influences into her music. While being married and a mother she also juggles being on your. It’s no secret doing all this can be tough but you could say we is a super mom and a super awesome singer to say the least. With her most popular song being Siberia, she is one of the most cool woman in the music scene.
10. Tonight Alive
Hailing from Sydney, Australia Tonight Alive is a 5 piece rock band starting out in 2008 they've worked their way to being a incredible band. With some pop influences they make a great band that keeps the style evolving and different. While testing new sounds and looks they never fail to look and sounds so cool while doing so.
