Picture this: you get home from class and decide to watch real television for once and not Netflix. I know what you are thinking - this must be an alternate universe for something like that to happen – just hang with me. While flipping through the channels something catches your eye, and the first thought that runs through your mind is this: “there is no way this is still on TV."
Are you imagining things? No, sadly you are probably not. The same TV show you watched all those years ago, or that obnoxious soap opera your mom used to watch while you were at school is still running. How? None of us know the answer to that question. Everyone at one time or another has sat down to watch one, or maybe four episodes of their favorite TV show from the past. However, there are some shows that have pushed the limits too far. Here are 10 TV shows that need to go:
1. Keeping Up with the Kardashians
The family lives a luxurious life in Calabasas, essentially doing nothing except living in the spotlight. Between Bruce becoming a media sensation and the continual debate on whether or not Kim's backside is real, what else could we possibly waste more time thinking about?
2. General Hospital
Some people may have never even heard of this show. I can promise you that you are not missing much. Moms across the country indulge in this show while their kids are away at school, but with over 12,800 episodes, I think it is safe to say it is time to say goodbye.
3. The Real Housewives of (Fill in the Blank)
Attention is the only thing these housewives are desperate for in this reality show. The women are constantly flaunting designer handbags and fake tans while waiting to spread the next bit of drama that comes their way.
4. American Idol
We can count on one hand the number of music artists who actually had successful careers after winning American Idol. The show was in its prime back when Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson, and Simon Cowell were calling the shots. Thanks to them, we now have great music from Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood.
5. House
Out with the old and in with the new! There a variety of new, popular medical TV dramas to indulge in, so why is there a need to keep up with House and his old-news medical issues?
6. America's Next Top Model
Thanks to Tyra Banks and several other modeling agencies not showcased on television, America has enough models. Once you have passed the twentieth cycle of your reality series, it may be time to find a new hobby.

7. The View
With classic talk shows like Live! with Kelly and Michael and TODAY Kathie Lee and Hoda, there is no need for news to be debated at the round table with Whoopi Goldberg and pals.
8. America's Got Talent
As millions of Americans have witnessed, we have plenty of interesting hobbies. However, I do not think they all qualify as talents. Some people are more concerned with getting their fifteen minutes of fame.
9. Futurama
The world should be able to survive without another animated, adult TV series. The number seems to be growing, and I'm not sure what that says about the American culture.
10. Spongebob
Almost 200 episodes of Spongebob have aired since the show began in 1999. If that does not make you feel old, it should at least make you realize how long the show has been around. Just let it sink in.
The wonderful thing about a show leaving television is that you can always find them online. You never truly lose them! Taking them off the air will create open blocks of time for the next hit TV show to take its place. Media are constantly looking for ways to keep viewers entertained – they will not let us down.
