Nathan Scott was more than the jock on One Tree Hill. Yes, Chad Micheal Murray—aka Lucas Scott—was our childhood crush, but Nathan soon replaced him and made us have really high (like really, really high) expectations on love every time he was with Hayley. In fact, he ruined our expectations on love.
1. When he wanted to be a better guy thanks to Hayley
We all want a bad guy who will be good for us, and Nathan proved us that is is possible. He didn't change for her, he became a better version of himself. Where is our bad boy who is actually a sweetheart?
2. When he cried for her
He cried when she left with Chris, when a car hit Hayley, and every time he was close to losing her. He was not afraid to admit that losing her is the worst thing that could happen to him. Every time Nate showed us how much he cared about her our hearts melted out of jealousy.
3. He knows Hayley better than she knows herself
He knows when she is sad, happy, and when there is something wrong with her. He doesn't even need to see her to know that something is odd. Oh, how we wished it was us when Nate didn't even see her and knew she was over thinking?
4. When he didn't stop wearing his wedding ring
Even if he was upset, mad, and completely bitter, Nate didn't give up on his relationship and kept wearing his wedding ring. Maybe it was around his neck instead of his finger, but it still show how much he cared. #weddinggoals
5. He would not even look at other girl
For him, it was only Hayley, and any other girl didn't stand a chance against her.
6. Every time he made a joke
He laughed at himself and at situations, and he was not afraid of being goofy. Laughing and love? Yes, please.
7. When he didn't give up when she has a complete mess
When she was going through a bad situation, and was acting completely insane, he was there supporting her and holding her no matter what. He could have run away or let her deal with her drama alone, but decided that seeing her suffer was worst than anything.
8. When he knew what he felt and was not afraid to show it
It was against what society defined as normal, and he didn't care. He wanted to be with her, without caring if all the odds were against them. He knew that she was his forever, and that they should be together.
9. Every time he thought Hayley was always beautiful
Even in the morning, and we know that there is nothing beautiful about waking up—messy hair, tired eyes and dried mouth. Still, he looked at her with puppy eyes and thought she looked good. Where is my morning Nathan?
10. Always and forever
Need I say more?
Now if I am excused, I'll be binge-watching Nayley.
