There’s nothing quite like having an amazing bond with your mom. From the moment you’re born, she’s always there to love you, take care of you and teach you what you need to know. So, when you go to college, it’s hard to not to notice the huge hole in your life from missing the one who’s always there. Whether it’s from day to day struggles to long-term separation anxiety, college can be tough without mom there to help.

1. You miss telling her everything about your day

It can be hard going home without mom there to vent to or share your excitement with.

2. You miss eating her real food, especially when the only thing in your pantry is ramen

3. You miss the bickering

As annoying as it may be sometimes, it’s nice having mom there to tell you when you screwed up and to help you fix your mistakes.

4. You miss her when you’re sick and have to take care of yourself

I would give just about anything to have my mom with me when I have the flu in college.

5. You miss her after a hard day at school

And sometimes you really need her there to convince you not to drop out.

6. You miss her when you’re trying to figure out basic adult tasks

Whether it’s laundry or how much Ibuprofen is too much to take in 24 hours, moms always seem to know the answer.

7. You miss wine and movie nights

There’s nothing better than Netflix and chill with your mom.

8. You miss her style advice

Sometimes, you can only really rely on your mom to tell you that skirt actually doesn't look good on you.

9. You miss laughing with her

There’s something special about the sense of humor you and your mom share, and everyone else probably thinks you’re crazy for laughing nonstop in the middle of a restaurant.

10. You miss the unconditional love

At the end of the day, your mom will always be the one who loves you no matter what.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
