My brother got engaged last week, and while I knew the proposal was in
the works, the news still surprised me. When he called me on Sunday
morning, I was in the middle of my article for last week, and while I
was working on it, I thought, “Hey I should write an article about this.” I thought long and hard about what I would say in an article about his
engagement, but I couldn’t think of anything eloquent (I was way too
excited for eloquence). I did have a lot of scattered thoughts though,
so I figured I would just compile them all in a list. So without further
ado, here’s that list.
1. Oh my goodness this is so great! Congratulations!
I’ve been rooting for you two as hard as you two were rooting for the Broncos.
2. A whole new family member? For me? Yes!
I’ve always wanted a sister.
3. How long do I have before I have to be the fit sibling everyone is expecting me to be?
Like, do I need to start now or do I have time to eat this doughnut?
4. I wonder what song they’re going to choose for their first dance...
As long as they don’t choose "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran. Literally any other Ed Sheeran song will be great.
5. Is it too early to start looking at dresses?
I’m just really excited and I need new dresses anyway so why not?
6. Do they already have a color scheme in mind? If they don’t, I have this great Pinterest board.
7. They grew up in different states. Where are they going to get married?
How about we just choose Hawaii instead? I keep on hoping we’ll eat cake by the ocean.
8. Do I need a date for this event? Oh no, I don’t want to deal with that crap.
That’s what friends are for.
9. Is this going to be a winter thing or a summer thing?
I don’t think everyone understands just how important this question is. Do I get a dress with sleeves or is a strapless dress OK?
10. If he can do it, I sure as hell can do it too!
Come at me, true love. I am ready.
