‘Tis the season to be jolly, the Holidays are truly the best time of the year! The atmosphere itself is filled with joy, and it is a great opportunity to catch up on the things you couldn’t do throughout the year or even something you have been waiting to do. Most importantly, it is a significant time to accomplish things that make you happy.

Here are 10 things you can’t miss doing over winter break:

1. Times Square in New York City

Times Square is a beautiful place to be, especially around New Years! The mesmerizing lights and décor during the Holidays are something that can’t be missed! The city of New York offers a nice treat you won’t forget!

2. Ice Skating

This one is a bit obvious, because what is winter without ice skating? And if you’re like me and don’t really know how to, then it’s a great opportunity to learn from your friends and hang out with them at the same time!

3. Spending time with family and catching up with old friends

Winter break is incomplete without our friends and family and most of us are away from home throughout the year, so take this time to enjoy being with the ones you care about and find out what’s been new with your old buddies.

4. Watching Holiday Classics

This is a must, and what more fun than to watch some good old Holiday classic movies that remind us how fun this season is! They never get old!

5. Learning a new Recipe

We all love food, and I for one live to eat. Learning a new recipe or even cooking for the first time can be a very rewarding experience, a delicious one too! And what better time than the Holidays when everyone’s always in the mood to eat?

6. Revisiting an Old Hobby

As humans, we are busy people with filled schedules throughout the year, giving us little time for ourselves and our recreational lives. Whether it’s reading a novel, singing, playing a sport, painting, or anything else you like to do for fun, winter break is an excellent way to do so!

7. Trying Something New

Try something new over the break, such as a new hairstyle, a nose piercing, or even skydiving with your friends. Life is full of adventures, so change things up a little to experience them!

8. Traveling

If you haven’t been out of town for a while, this is the perfect time to plan that trip!

9. Making handmade letters and gifts for your friends

Nothing shows more love and affection than creating something by hand. It shows that you truly took the time out for that person and made them a gift worth remembering for life. Writing a letter is also a great way to demonstrate that you’re thankful for their presence!

10. Destressing and Relaxation

After all the stress you’ve faced throughout the year, this is a great time to unwind and catch up on some sleep! Relax, because you totally deserve it after all the hard work you’ve done!

These were just some of the things that could be done over winter break, but there’s so many more fun activities you can do with your friends and family! Winter break is all about spending quality time on things you find enjoyable and a time to make memories that you will hold onto for the rest of your life, so make it a memorable one!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
