10 Things To Do When Struck With Boredom

Some productive and un-productive things to get you through your day. Play a game on your phone, organize something, go for a walk, go to the gym, clean something, make to-do lists, watch old TV shows, read a book, unsubscribe from e-mail lists, donate things you don't use.

10 Things To Do When Struck With Boredom

No matter the time of day, month or year there is always a chance to end up bored. Here are a few ways to pass some of the many hours of normal boredom.

1. Play a game on your phone

There are tons of things to do on smart phones and one thing you can do while you’re bored is to break out a game app. Whether it be a mindless level of Candy Crush or a challenging Brain game like Luminosity there are countless free apps to download and use on your devices.

2. Organize something

That drawer that is full of… whatever or that chair in the corner of your room that has piles of things on top of it now is the perfect time to clean it out and put it wherever it was truly meant to go.

3 .Go for a walk

Going for a walk can do a lot of things. It’s relaxing just strolling through town and taking in the scenery. Its exercise which is super helpful for anyone of any age. It can jog your memory of an important task or event you may be forgetting. It’s a way for us to unplug from our typical devices and get out into the world and experience life.

4. Go to the gym

Speaking of exercise from walking… why don’t you go to the gym! If you are truly bored then why not take the time to get into shape or just start to live an over all healthier lifestyle.

5. Clean something

Whether it be the pile of dirty dishes in the sink, the loads of laundry that you have yet to do (because who wants to do laundry) or that hard to reach vent that has inches of dust on it tackle a cleaning project the next time you get bored.

6. Make To-Do lists

If you don’t have a ton of time to tackle different projects or maybe you’re bored out of the house but happen to be stuck at work or a meeting then you can make lists. Think of anything you need to do like picking up food or cleaning the bathroom and make a list. Anything you want to do like drink more water or take more time to relax write it down. People are more likely to do something if it is written down.

7. Re-watch classic TV shows

My personal favorite to go back and watch is Friends but if you have 30 minutes to an hour on your hands sit back, relax and enjoy a classic TV show.

8. Read a book

Books take you places movies and TV shows haven’t quite mastered yet. Whether it be an adventure into another dimension, a love story so real that it has you up till 3am reading books have always been able to capture their readers and truly entertain. Next time you’re bored find a new book to read and I guarantee you that you won’t be bored anymore.

9. Unsubscribe from Email lists

We all have those emails that we don’t truly ever read from different stores and email lists. Take the time to de-clutter your inbox and unsubscribe from all those daily emails.

10. Donate things you don’t use

Filter through all those old clothes, shoes and knick-knacks. Anything that is stuck in the back of the closet collecting dust, give yourself more room around the house and donate anything you don’t need/use.

Hopefully these ten things will help you get things done and cure you from your boredom.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
