With all the stigmas and statuses, it can be challenging to stay true to yourself and the person you want others to think you are. I don't mean only in a psychical aspect, I mean mentally and emotionally as well. I have always been very observant and self aware of my surroundings. I have always been well aware of the insecurities and self doubt the people around me have carried and I wanted to tribute this to them, because you ARE good enough.
1. You are so unique.
There will never be anyone on this earth who is just like you. Everyone looks different and has a new and diverse way of thinking and acting. Changing yourself to please anyone else other then yourself would just be devastating to the ones who love you just the way you are.
2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
Self image is so important, don't misunderstand me when I say this. Self image is every different than what others think of you. You want to be yourself, not only on the inside and vocally but in your looks. If we all looked the same, we would be so bored with ourselves. If you want pink hair, dye your hair. If you want to wear black every day, do it. There is no limitation to the creativity of your mind. Be yourself and don't give a damn what others think.
3. Not everyone is going to like you.
There is no point in trying to please everyone you meet. You will never succeed. It may be the way you walk, or do your hair, it could be the viewpoints you hold, it will never be correct for everyone. Try to remember you only have to worry about your own personal being & not what others expect you to do and believe. I am not saying to do whatever you please where-ever you please, be aware of your surroundings and don't purposely hurt anyone.
4. Count your blessings not your problems.
There is no reason you shouldn't be thinking of the glass half full instead of half empty. There are so many wonderful and beautiful things around us everyday waiting to be discovered. I can only imagine how much happier we all could be if more of us realized this. Be thankful for what you have, not what you don't. There is always a bright side to every dark story.
5. Smile, even when you are sad.
If you smile every morning when you wake up and laugh just to laugh, there is no way your day has started out negative, which could lead you to a pretty good day. Smiling brings joy to everyone, not just your friends or your family but the people you are passing by, the people you don't even realize were paying attention.
6. Don't limit your dreams.
There is nothing stopping you from using your full brain power and achieving anything you set your mind to. The only way to get something done, is work for it. Nothing in this life is easy, you will always have obstacles and things occurring that will need your attention, but don't ever put your dreams on hold or on the back burner. Go after what you want, no matter the size, or if it isn't what others want for you.
7. Worry less, and do more.
If you spend all your time worrying, when the time come for fun and spontaneous freedom? There is nothing better then not having anything to be done or thought about. Like the feeling you get when you are on vacation, walking the beach, with shoes in your hand and your mind is just somewhere else. Be in that moment, enjoy every second. Hold onto the feeling for a day where nothing is going your way, and you need ten seconds to step back and remember the feeling of not having a care in the world.
8. Don't do it half ass.
Something that was instilled into my brain at a young age was "Don't do it half-ass or you will do it again" for example instead of cleaning my room, i shoved my clothes under the bed and in the closet, or instead of putting my bike away I just hid it behind the bike shed. Laziness will get us no where but into trouble. One way to avoid having to redo things is to just do them right the first time. This is true in all aspects of life, not just chores. Don't half ass a relationship or you will find it not existent, don't half ass on the job or you won't have one, don't half ass on homework or you will not pass. It really isn't that difficult to do right the first time, save the trouble.
9. Forgive, but never forget.
People are never perfect, they will lose your trust and break your heart. Sometimes, its the smaller stuff that bothers us the most, like lying about location or plans. I have always been one to hold grudges, but I'm tired of it. It is so unhealthy to hold all that stuff in, just forgive the problem. While forgiveness is healthy, never do so without an apology. Sometimes, forgiving becomes so naturally we don't even wait for the "Sorry" and the person secretly is getting away with it and not knowing they were in the wrong. Stay strong to your beliefs and forgive those who don't agree, just don't forget who has wronged you and how often they have done so.
10. It is never to late.
Time is moving ever forward, yes. But the opportunities available to you grow every day, every hour. The choices are endless, and no one is going to blame you or throw shade at you for changing your mind about something. Especially if it has to do with your future. The only thing holding you back is you. Dream big and go after those dreams, you can always start over, begin again. Try and if you don't succeed, try again.
Never be down on yourself, you are just who you need to be. You're here for a reason.
