10 Things To Expect When Your Girlfriend Is A Disney Lover

Ahhh, love is in the air. You have finally found that gal that makes your cheeks blush and your heart soar. After an expected "get to know you" phone call that seemed to last for hours, you find out that she is a Disney lover. After the excitement you heard, you might even describe her as an addict. With this very specific personality trait, what kind of things can you expect? Is it just like someone that loves puppies or someone that collects snow globes? I am afraid that it goes far beyond that. Your eyes are about to be opened to a whole new world.

1. Impulsive Disney References

Speaking of a whole new world, a true Disney lover cannot help but make impulsive Disney references. It is because Disney is always on their mind. If they are doing chores, they are whistling while they work. If they are having a bad day; Hakuna Matata, because they have no worries. If they are brushing their hair, they are probably pretending it is a dinglehopper instead of a hairbrush. Get used to it because this will be a reoccurring trend.

2. Park Food Cravings

Cronuts, Dole Whips and Mickey pretzels; oh my! While you are craving foods with an easy capability of fulfillment like Taco Bell or McDonald's, the Disney lover has a constant craving for park food. By park food, they are referring to what you would consider to be incredibly overpriced food that is only served in Disney theme parks. You may just see a basic chocolate coated vanilla ice cream shaped like Mickey Mouse on a popsicle stick, but they see magic. They see memories. They see children's faces covered in chocolate while they watch the three o'clock parade. They see a couple biting each side of the same ice cream before it melts. They see themselves buying that one last cool snack before Wishes on a hot summer's night. Every Disney park food craving is attached to a memory. The sooner you can respect that, the better.

3. The "Disney Section" of Their Closet

You may find it strange, but many Disney lovers have a specific section of their closet dedicated specifically to Disney clothing. They cannot help it; they see a shirt with "The Lion King" or a pair of sweatpants with Mickey Mouse and they feel like it was made for them. The clothing does everything but specifically speaking out loud to them. It whispers "Buy me. You need me in your wardrobe," and they cannot help but make the purchase. They literally feel like they are betraying their passion by leaving that shirt or those sweatpants behind. It is their duty to keep Disney in their local mall; a duty they must continuously fulfill. So bear with them while they continue to come home with various shirts that look relatively the same. In their eyes, they are unique and special.

4. Disney Music... always.

Sure, everyone loves to hear "You Got a Friend in Me" or "The Circle of Life" every now and again. These songs make the general population feel nostalgic and at least temporarily happy. Now, your Disney lovers are another breed entirely. They take Disney music to another level. They will make playlists of every Disney song in order of movie release date. They will force you to listen to the entire score of "A Bug's Life" because it inspires them. You will hear a weird intergalactic space song and wonder what the heck you are listening to only to find out that this is the Epcot Entrance Music on a loop (how did you not know that?) Finally, at night when they are missing Disney the most, you will be required to listen to the "Wishes" or "Illuminations" soundtrack because those songs are the closest they can get to actually being at the nighttime fireworks shows. Understand and embrace the emotion that is behind their need for this; you will get it one day.

5. Disney Movies; The Only Option

You know how girlfriends are—romantic comedies are the way to their heart. The most you have had to put up with in the past is sitting through "The Notebook" or "Love Actually." Well, it only gets better. You are in a similar situation, except now these romantic comedies are animated. OK, not always. You will get forced to see live-action remakes as well. Just know this; if you see the words "Disney" or "Pixar" before the trailer begins, you will eventually be paying for these tickets at the box office, so just go ahead and set that 20 dollars to the side right now.

Oh, she wants to have a night in? She mentions "Netflix and Chill?" I'll just go ahead and break it to you now and let you down easy; she really means Netflix and chill. She will walk you in to her room that is covered in Disney attractions posters and you will see her bed that is blanketed in Disney Pillow Pets and you will wonder what you have gotten yourself into. Then she will pull up Netflix and you will notice that everything in "continue watching" and "because you watched" is full of, what you would consider, children's movies. She will then make you decide between "Hercules," "Dumbo" or "Mulan" while she complains about how Netflix needs to get better options for Disney movies. Are you in over your head yet? Hang in their buddy, there is still a lot to learn.

6. Your Proposal is Already Planned!

You two are only on your first date, you say? Well she will be the first to tell you that, just in case the two of you get married one day, she already has her marriage proposal planned out. No pressure! But really, she had had this planned out for years; so listen carefully when the day comes that she does tell you what she has in mind. Every Disney-loving-girlfriend will have a different fantasy but if, by chance, she never explains the details; in front of Cinderella's Castle is a great assumption.

7. Trips Are Done Their Way

What a sweet boyfriend! You planned a Disney trip for your girlfriend? Well that is just the kindest gesture. You have made fast passes and dinner reservations and you have it all planned out! I am going to do you a solid and tell you that you have an amazing start there; the park tickets and hotel reservations will be greatly appreciated. However, plans will be changed extremely. Odds are, you know nothing about Disney Parks and she knows everything. So do not be offended when she goes behind you and changes every decision that you have made. I mean, let's be real; she knows all of the best restaurants, all of the parks opening and closing times and already has ride wait times pulled up on her phone so that she can make the wisest decision on fast pass selections. At the end of the day, you are amazing for catering to her passions but accept that this is her turf. One day you will be all knowing, but for now, just let her take the reins.

8. You Always Know An Easy Gift Option

I will just tell you this now; if it is Disney related, you have already won. You scored big time buddy, this is too easy. Her face will light up even if you buy her something as simple as a Minnie Mouse notepad from the dollar store. As I said before, Disney lovers feel as though everything Disney related was made specifically for them. Therefore, if you buy a Disney gift for them before they have bought it for themselves, you are the true master. Accept your win and roll with it for as long as she eats it up.

9. She Will Make Expensive Purchases, And You Won't Understand

While we are on the topic of gifts, she will buy them for herself even when you do not. These gifts that she buys herself will sometimes be expensive but she will justify it because it is Disney, so you will have to as well. No, you will not understand why. A purse with Minnie and Mickey was $250. You will also not understand why she needed a $16 "Life" magazine about Walt Disney's history but you need to just let it happen. This is what makes her happy. Some girls buy endless makeup at Sephora; your girl buys Disney. The only time you should really be worried is when your Disney loving girlfriend discovers the Minnie Mouse themed line at Sephora. Then you must hide all of the credit cards you have and run as fast as you can.

10. Disney Lovers Are the Best Lovers

After reading this, you probably never want to date a Disney-loving girl. They sound crazy in every way. Yet, the truth is, they are better than any other girl you will find. Soak in every quality that this girl has. You have found a girl with a true passion and girls like that are far and few in between. She has learned valuable lessons from the endless movies, TV shows, songs and parks. "Cinderella" taught her that, with a little faith, she could be the girl a the ball. "Pinocchio" taught her to always tell the truth, even when it is not easy. "The Lion King" taught her to not let the small things bother her because...well...Hakuna Matata. "The Princess and the Frog" taught her to work hard for everything she wants in life, even when she has to miss out on fun. "Tangled" taught her to break out of her comfort zone to find what she really wants in life. "Mulan" taught her to stand up for what she believes in no matter what obstacles lie in front of her.

So do not write her off as crazy yet. You have found a girl that truly believes in happy endings. Hold her tight and be her happy ending; be her prince. Tell her that someday her price will come and that someday is today. Do not be like Elsa, do not let her go. She is special and she knows how to love like no other.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
