10 Things That Happen When You Love Your Summer Job

Some Jobs Are Better Than The Rest

10 Things That Happen When You Love Your Summer Job
Carly Kveton

Seasonal summer jobs can make or break a summer. For high schoolers it's one of the only jobs you can get, but in college it's a chance to complete internships or find a job to do something you love. But, what happens when you do find a summer job you love?

1. Waking up in the morning isn't so hard.

Well, waking up in the morning is always hard (especially when you have to adjust to a time change), but maybe instead of snoozing the alarm 11 times, you just snooze it six.

2. Your co-workers become your summer best friends.

Your school and home-town best friends are so far away sometimes you gotta turn to the people who are closest (in distance) to you for the latest gossip, or for advice or to hang out with. Just to get a new perspective on everything.

3. You forget how to have a social life because #igottawork or #workislife

Everyone: "Wanna hang out tonight?"

You: "I can't. I have to work."

Everyone: "Why are you always working?"

You: "Because I want to."

4. You can't believe you're getting paid for this.

Your boss asks you to do something that you love to do and you question how you ever got so lucky to not only be able to do something you love, but you get paid for it too.

5. You work until you can't stand...

...But you don't realize how tired you are until you sit down at the end of the day. After a full day's work of standing and running around you forget about how sore your body is until you stop moving.

6. You become an expert at every task that needs to be done at work.

You come in and repeat a lot of the same tasks everyday and every day you become better and better at everything until it becomes second nature, and you can answer the boss's questions about how things work.

7. Even though you lapse into a routine you don't seem to notice.

During the school year, class is way too repetitive, but waking up, going to work, working 8 hours, coming home, eating dinner and going to sleep just to wake up and do the same thing isn't a routine at all...right?

8. You don't want to go home at the end of the day.

You'd rather stay at work, and stay busy with all the activities that you love rather than go home and be bored.

9. "Full-time" means more than 80 hours a week because they couldn't get you to leave.

At the end of the week, you worked way more hours than you're even expected of because your boss can't get you to go home.

10. Everyone you work with becomes more of your family than your actual family.

Your family is your family and you love them. But your work family is the group that you've problem-solved the impossible with, dealt with the insane and annoying customers with, seen the bizzare with and who you can be crazy with......because "you don't have to be crazy to work here, we'll train you."

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
